I think the Mark III D range is lower. And Damage outbut will only change when changing to bigger guns if im not wrong.

mmm if range is shorter than Mark IIL then the only way the damage output would increase is if shells do more damage (which according to you they dont) if reload is shorter (which it isnt it has 1 second more reload) or better spread (which i don't know if it does have better spread).

So, are the Mark III Ds worth a try or not? currently i can hardly hit anything because with the high reload and bad spread, all other BBs sink the enemy ship before i acn hit a single shot. XD

in shell damage
15" mark II (1530) is 200 higher than 15" mark III (1355)

on bb, range is everything (except for the rushers where speed/armor :D),

and for your spread, your gunners is still young(at level) all you need to do is boost,vet and expert him (bve for short),

for spread, they do have same spread at higher level

with renown speed, you could rush in and rush out fast and do damage to a blind bb the only problem is that renown is a bc and fragile(at level) armoring it will make it even worst, in playing bb1 in gb with at level crews, just stay back the main line and wait for an opportunity or sink some incoming ca/cl/dd they won't mind since your a bb1 :D, if you find a fellow bb1 on the other side that is alone try engaging it (but i always engage bb3-5 on my bb1 ninja tactic :D)

stay at 15" Mark III L and use LHE(3 bind on A) and AP(1 bind on B)

The Mark III Ds outrange the Mark I and Mark II Ls.
They also allow the Renown to speedcap at 47, which is fun :P

how/where do you check for shell damage?

It's not possible to check real shell damages without finding hidden values.
I'm going to guess that it's 100 less damage per shell, though

The value is 200 difference but in battle its really about 500 more damage per shell. So you get 4k more damage per salvo. I prefer the Mark II because as a BB1 I have to rush into range anyway so I'll be doing as much damage as I can to them before they sink me(if they do sink me).

Mark II L is more damage and shorter reload.
Mark III D is less damage and longer reload.

You can see how noticable the DPS you are dealing varies between the gunsets right?
