That's because IJN uses 18.9" (Lvl 100 BB5 guns) and 20.1" (lvl 110) and 20.5" (BB6).

They all have pretty heavy shells and a very high maximum angle that gives them enough power to punch through L2 and QV armor.


H44 is a different story because its guns have a lower maximum angle (second lowest actually) causing the shells to skip off the deck armor.

The size never tells what shells can penetrate. In fact the bigger they are the more weight they need to penetrate the same armor as small shells need. E.g. 20"kaiser bounces below 7", alsace and charlemange hace bad AP too and are19". On the other had prepatch up41 could penetrate QVs fully AWed with 16" at 30 degrees.... In numbers for h44 the new AP ability is 9.5-9.7 inch UK deck. So only 2gun l1+2 and QVs can bounce it... Though the 37knot QV setups get peirced so only for the 35 knot ones u have to load AP

Ive been using my H44 with the 16" L for ages

Recently, with the patch I think NF autochanged my Guns to the 20" . I know this has happened to many other players

 

How do KM players feel about the 20" vs 16" L ??

do the 20s have the same range as the 16.5 ?

What changes are coming about as the H44 is being redone atm
