what your experiancing is normal, its a struggle to get used to but in the end you will be happy you did

it shoots further and is a lot more accurate.

i know people that use it only and yes it is possible but they have medical conditions that stop them from using manual.


best to practice in blitz and turn side on and sit and wait for them to come to you and dont move your ship, once you get the hang of angle and gun turning then start turning your ship.

also helps setting your G key to the thumb button on your mouse to its really easy to flick from your ship to the end of your guidlines.

Yes I do that, I sit sideways and do fine, but once I move I confuse myself hehe, at least I see that I am not the only one feeling uncordinated with my fingers.  I do not have a  medical condition but have gamed with several who had to use game pads move all buttons to a gaming mouse etc. 

Seems I panic and make it worse and cross my lines all about, I will keep trying, thanks for the nice reply.

i know i'm going to be flacked till the end of time for this but i infact use auto lol i do not how ever hav any medical or physical inability. i use auto because i enjoy it more then manual and this is my personal preference. i do manual AA every so often tho and it is an interesting time lol i run auto on my bbs and any other ships 

Play the test battle mission in a different area, the one against 4 bb1s with ff guns. Practise turning about and shooting them :)

 

If you use auto you will incur an exp penalty, I think it's 20%. Keep trying with manual, you'll get the hang of it eventually, everyone went through a period of getting used to manual. BB could prove a little unforgiving, practising earlier would have helped, but youll get used to it nonetheless.

 

Just remember that when you turn, you can simply use Q or E to turn your guns to face the opposite side. Once your lines are together go back to use A and D to aim. Remembering wether to use Q or E to turn them clockwise or counterclockwise still gets me sometimes :)

Oh I do not have any BB yet, I was curious if I should stick out learning manual or just forever use auto and if it was viable at top level. Thanks all

well at the end of it all it is purely up to u. play as u see fit all we can do is give u pointers. hell i started the game running KM(hardest bb line) and did pretty well using auto, one thing tho when running auto shooting from north down south gets interesting as it isn't the same as shooting south to north and so on

best way to learn manual is to do some anti-aircraft shooting.

remember to change the angles depending on how high the planes are flying

the other good thing to look forward to is that in big ships your fire rate is really slow and shots are more methodical, so you have extra time to use manual and get it right each time.

Devine said it pretty well. Auto will give u a penalty, thus learning manual is the better option in the end. It's best to learn manual as soon as possible, from dd of on would be good. In the little ships you got the time to adapt to manual.

As normpearii said, dont use the TDA at first, just get used to manual aiming. When you are getting used to the right key's for changing your guns you can start using TDA as well (you will probably want to as well).

And yes it's a pain at first, I hated it when I started playing NF (my brother made me use manual from ff1 on) but now I'm really happy with it and I wanna thank my brother for making me do so.
