im thinking of making a km aa crew since with the emden it can be quite easy to get alot of plane kills

but how do i approach this? in short terms

1: do i need reload stat?

2: do i need to class right away or wait?

3 will i be able to lvl different sailors like uk/usn on a emden?

4: and what is the golden angle for the aa gun that goes on the emden?

1. Yes, reload is useful, so is accuracy really because at low level even AA spread can be quite bad. But still mostly reload.

2. You can class KM AA gunners on time, although some people prefer not to class from 1st AA Gunner to RapidFire Gunner because it causes a loss of Acc for no additional Reload. Although there is a benefit in the form of more recruits added every level, so reload ability does grow faster even with no additional ability growth added. Whether you choose to fully class on time or not is up to you, but you can safely promote to 1st AA at 21.

3. Yes, you will. They wont be able to be a part of the crew (IJN sailors may work at half effectiveness but wont be able to operate guns/torps) but using AA boats to level sailors is very common, since not only can it be done easily in GB for relatively higher exp than in blitz, but AAing also provides more experts during the process.

4. The 3 AA guns that come to mind are the Lvl 16 3.46" duals, which are fairly fast firing effective AA guns for low level, the lvl 30 3.46" A version, which is like the lvl 16 but with a 0.8s reload time and slightly more damage, and the lvl 25 4.1" dual which has slightly more range and more damage than the lvl 30 3.46" but also has longer reload time.

the lvl 16 2x 3.46" D is 36

The lvl 25 2x 4.1" A is 32

the lvl 30 2x 3.46" A is 36

If u aiming for Emden(and further) best to get sailor with 10 acc 12 reload for AA gunners.

I find Emden R mount AA guns not that practical to aim planes, when u get higher lv, it's easier on Deutchland line T mount AA guns (Moltke is always a great AAW/ASW PCA).

U can put any nation sailors on AA ships and they will recieve exp, but don't expect them to work in KM AA ship if they're not KM sailors.

Emden best to load with Lv.30 3.46"/76 SK C/32 (GA=36-37). Any higher lv than this gun, u'll run out usable displacement sooner to place ur sailors.

There is no crew growth for KM AA that's why we recommend not classing up as there is ZERO benefit to it unless you want a bit more spread from accuracy loss.

Good point, well remembered.

I went like this, didnt class them. Concentrating the fire (Acc) will make the same plane take dmg from 3/4 shells from the same shoot, even if i use the 3.46 they go down pretty fast even high lvl planes. And the Rel is insane yes.

If I remember correctly, IJN doesn't recieve a hit to ability since IJN and KM were allies. It's when you mix Axis/Allies crew and ships that you recieve the nerf to ability.

Untrue unfortunately.
Just put an IJN sailor alone on a IJN ship to check the SD and then put him alone on a KM ship to see that he receives quite a penalty on the KM ship.
For allied sailors the penalty seems to be that the veterans give no contribution to ability.
Non allied sailors receive an even bigger penalty.

From what i remember allied sailors get a 30% hit to ability while non allied sailors don't work at all.

Incorrect.

To see why Danita is correct, do the same test with a sailor that only has experts and one that only has vets.

Now I remember why I only used my medic on both KM and IJN.
