First off, GB2 has four main restrictions:
1) BBs are restricted to 20, with only four being BB6. 2) CVs are restricted to 8, excluding IJN CA/BB conversions that carry planes. 3) Submarines are restricted to 10.
No limits on CA, CL, DD, or FF ship classes.
NF figures that more than 10 subs is a shark-feeding frenzy (true) and the result is not very fun for everyone else.
NF limits the number of BBs because more than 20 is just ridiculous and is trying to get other ships to be in the game, not BBs only.
NF limits BB6s because they are too powerful for most other ships and will dominate the game and make it less challenging.
NF limits CVs because they want the game to start...eventually, and because too many CVs with their dozens of aircraft, causes lag.
As for playing GB2, I find that 6 CVs makes for the best arrangement of balance and the game has less lag.
Putting 10 CVs just means we hit the magical cap of 64 players at about the time we get 9 CVs and the game splits unevenly.
Leave it alone.
