Mikawa is one of the original EBB's. It was Mikawa, New York, Dreadnought, and Nassau.
None of these ships are an equal opponent for a bb3 or a PBB for that matter. I look at them like a novelty ship. They're fun to play, cool to look at but definitely not a game winner.

That's wrong.
You're confusing Mikawa (EBB level 113) with Mikasa.
It's the latter that is in a league with the other EBBs you cited, but OP wanted to know more about the former (that came out only early this year).

By virtue of being able to mount the 20" ebb guns (Shinano version), the Mikawa is, by default, a powerful ship. While it has a weaker AA battery, it's more durable and has 2 extra crew slots, which is a big plus. What I don't know, as I don't have (and rarely see) one, is the speed. If it goes 40+ with those guns, and without skimping on anything, it's a monster worth noting, and possibly getting.

mine does 39 with a full crew, no matter what I try.

What do you think about the lvl115 18.9" SD-799 triples? Why is it rare to see any Mikawa with its own special gunset these days?

Mikawa gunset has a damage output like the Amagi, but hast a S yamato range, take in consideration that with the spread you miss some shots, with the Shinano you get the same weight per shells like the amagi, but each ammo has 3500! of HE and you can blockshot every shot, due that I like a lot more the shinano guns (shinano guns has the same range than super yamato).

just like JuliusPersi said. In addition, the spread is just (as typical for ijn) utter crap. I never managed to get even close to a fullhit with the x3. If you get 6 hits per salvo you can celebrate this like your birthday - mostly you'll hit like 3-4 shells. The 20.1" got a by far more stable dmg output. Because the spread is so bad it doesn't even matter that you can run 40kn with the x3, whilst only getting 39kn with x2.

I just got the Mikawa today, can someone tell me what guns they use? Specifically, level, # of barrels, and diameter?
For example, I'm currently equipped with thel level 115, 3x 18.9 (SD-799), only becuase the range is 2981 (for reference, the atago's range with the permanant guns are 3068).
Here is what I'm seeing as the following: -level 115 3x 18.9 (SD-799) = 2981 range -level 110 2x 20.1 (Type 98A) = 2970 range -level 103 2x 20.1 (A 150) = 2970 range -level 101 3x 18.9 (Type 5 KNA) = 2976 range -level 100 3x 18.9 = 2976 range
I went with the 115 ones b/c of the range difference. It just seems like I'm always being outranged which forces me to either rush, or retreat but never can do a real line battle. With these guns, I have 24 knots of normal speed, and 40 knots overheat for 170 seconds (with 3x engineers). I also have the standard .2 side plate and about 50 bulge armor.
How are yall equipped? I'm not even sure which guns I should be running on the Shinano. You said hte 20.1, so I'm assuming either the level 110 or level 103. Same range, but whats the difference? Thanks!
