  • Which BB to take or to skip?

    05. 31. 2014 10:21

Kogard

Okay my 2 BO hit their BB1 level, 54 and 56 yesterday.

I can get 2 line of MN BBs, my crew are standart +12.

As of now I still use Algerie and Tourvile doing AA.

Which BB to avoid/skip and which one to use for grinding crew?

And which EBB to take for the incoming medals in the end of event?

Already has Clemenceau.

Thx.

I went both lines, I reccomend you do the same to see what ships suit you.

From personal experience: Courbet eat blitz alive, but is not very good for GB. Bretagne is one of the best bb1 for GB, can get 200k games with that.

Didn't like the snail Lyon myself (though others do), but liked the Normandie for its small size. Le havre is obviously a nice EBB to use at some point, also cause the Strasbourg is not very good at lvl. Richelieu can be fun if you can use it, and then ur already at the awesome Alsace.

OK will take Le Havre EBB.

Remodel BB(Lorraine/Paris) any good or just skip these 2?

Hi, MN is my favourite nation between IJN and KM. Le havre is very powerfull for powerlevel, Easy to get te 39 knots and could kill any ship on his range, but if you have high lvl crew or good aiming you end hating this ship, is pretty good for regular captains but limits a tactician or agresive players.

By other hand , for fun I love the strasbourg 1938, it's very small (more small than Dunkerke), manouvreable with a nice spread (near to blockshot), but this ships to hit the 42 knots cap require very high lvl engineers (in my case was 105 BVEx5). Clemenceau is a fast ship with his 44 knots cap, his hit damage is weak, but it is for hit n' run tactics and is awesome! and U could carry an awesome AA battery. Jean Bart is slow with the 40 knots cap (U can't rush on it), I doesn't see any advantage like the shinano, I only use it for power level the Sub Bo on WAW.

The only one I really recommend skipping is the Strasbourg. By the time the ship is useable, you have the Rich, which is basically the same ship, but faster and with longer range. All the others can be fun to use, even at level.

2 people not recommend Stras for lving or with at level crew, I'll skip it.

Tried Courbet several times in Blitz, right, its fun and powerfull small BB.

Here's my crew so far, BO lv 57 and 58, 2 main gunner lv58, 2 reload gunner lv65, 5 engys lv58-62, 3 reps lv58-62, 1 scout lv61.

Reporting progress.

My 2 BO's now 80, gunners at 89, support at 85.

Le Havre is fabulous ship at lv. Running 40 knots OH setup with HH. The quad spread is terrible but 16 shells compensate it.

I was curious and tried StrasBourg few games, I can work with 37 knots OH, but the spread is frustating. Gonna leave it and back to Le Havre I guess.

Have read this thread a few times and finally have given it some thought. It's my 6th BB line and I've grinded every one from lvl 1 - 120 without premium. I say this because there is no better way to learn a ship than to play each and every one of them for an extended time. Problem is presently it is near impossible to stay on one ship for the first 61 lvls to even remember what they were good for.

I always frowned upon blaming the new players for terrible bb or cv play because I felt it was because they were just learning or new to the game. I've come to realise through the community and in game play that the problem lies not within the "noobs" who have so shockingly committed their time to playing such a game full of problems, but the learning curve itself.

My suggestion to all new players and maybe some old ones. Start with 2 Bridge Operators and lvl a full crew for your future BB6(until around lvl 80). Do it at least once to experience the true navyfield experience. Yea we can all go back and play that old bb with our 120 crews but there's nothing like sinking that purple ribbon bb with your ribbonless bb with at level crew.

Kogard, I am looking forward to using the le Harvre. Still only lvl 54 and 56.

Sorry for the rant but hope it helps some.

Hello Austin, yeah some BBs in the lines are really hard to play or has different style of play from the rest. And there's not enough guide/review on each provided. This only my 2nd nation, I too reached KM BB sailors 120 also without prem.

With the contribution of other MN players. I hope this thread can help anyone who want to try MN BB line.

Progress report;

Now my BO reach 95, using Richelieu since 89. Short range but the dmg and spread are nice for 35 degree angle. Combine with 40 knot OH and decent bulge armor, can manuever in and out of combat. Still have to be carefull picking target and time it correctly to get in range. For T slots I opted for HH to deal with the coming SS.

Negative comments; the AP shells is not quite usefull against AW target.

Been a while...

Summary on Richelieu (89) and Clemenceau (96);

They both similiar like H41/H39 in KM. Richelieu can hold more bulge as my support grow, Clemenceau rather limited. But Clemenceau offers 1 more support slot. Both ships best to use AA for T slot + HH for rear R guns, racking up atk on SS and credits from planes is always nice. AP dmg on AW ships is rather low (or maybe aim is bad). Only 4 scouts planes (lv90), need to be managed or run out easily.

Summary on Alsace (103);

With 4x108 engys I can only run 40knot OH, if I run 42 I'll die easily from torps coz I can only fit 4 bulge. Nice T slots for AA (lv 33 duals). Short range but deadly salvo, AP dmg is okay on AW. Rather low OH time even I put 5 engys on it, need to be better managing OH time. Never run out scout with lv 90 scout plane.
