2nd) its depend on you, but i would suggest you train a pair of +12 rel gunners for your aa, just in case you want to use aa on your riche, alsace and charlie

MN AA has most range but least shell damage.
The insane range meanst it can murder just about everything trying to scout you probably including T5 scouts.

Yes. Use AA for MN.

MN aa may have the least damage output, but that doesn't matter when your gunners reach lvl 85+.

with the new MN patch, Richelieu isn't really the aa ship now as it used to be pre-patch. The Alsace is the aa king now. Even in GB rooms, it is possible to just rain havoc on cv's trying to bomb you.

$DE gave BB's room for aa for a reason! =)

Chance are in GBs, your focus won't be on the sky enough to have enough time to gun down enemy planes.

Its why a closer ranged, heavy punched AA like KM is better in those situation.

While MN and IJN are decent tough, IJN is borderline for GB, and MN even greater lack of punch makes it a really BB-room oriented option, where damage per shell matters little vs scouts.

Personal preference and playstyle.

Admittedly, I have never been able to master AAing, and to boot, never mastered using AA while keeping my eyes on my opposing BBs and then to think about what my next move will be against them.

Might be why some BB drivers are successful at doing such (AAing while competently fighting opposing BBs) and why some simply get rushed and eradicated when they get carried away acting more like an AA boat than a BB. I stick to doing what I have done since I got into a BB: concentrate on playing my BB without AA and sinking opposing BBs.

My notice is the BB player that master AA have normally a more conservative playstyle.

Its different. I like having it mainly for BB rooms and bomber defense, and keeping the option to blind an opponent that is really playing the wait for the rush and run game exclusively.

I dont consider myself a master of AAing either. There are some games I won't even shoot a single salvo from them.

I'm also more on the aggressive side of the scale, altough I like using it if I'm forced on the defensive.

One trick I like to do is to start AA in the general direction of a plane to push an enemy to rush thinking I'm distracted, then I suddenly get a salvo in and rush him back.

Win.

riche with can't have a good aa with 5.1" duals and quads. with a perfect aim on the incoming squad of plane it can wipe out in 1 or 2 shot of course with high level gunners to have a good reload with it, its kinda like the 5.3" of UK...

but on alsace, i didn't bother to put aa yet, i kinda distracted with it and my engies are still at level so i bring 6eng/3rep setting to have speed

You can usually tell who started with KM/IJN lines as original crew. You create a fine line between AA as a crutch and AA as a useful tactic. Personally I absolutely hate playing BB rooms without AA. To a degree, I have those games where I spend way too much time on the T slots and not enough on the Rs. There are certainly more AA boats crusing around then when I first started playing BBs though so I've moved some off the reliance, however in BB rooms, Range + AA + Patience generally ends in good results. AW/SW ships can rush all they want, but when you run out of scouts, or spend too much time blind, that ranged ship is going to get in the hits they need.
