Hey guys can u advise me, i have an SS line,  i have few experts won and not  sufficient enough if i will grab the 250%  conversion to all my crews, aside from the Planesman that must be overvetted, does over veting of other SS crews like Torpedomen really matter most?considering the reload capped, etc. etc. I have lvl100+ torpmen  with 100+ vet each full experts.  Should i use the remaining experts for vets conversion for planesman 160+ vets or  to the torpmen?. Just assume all my crews are elite. Pls no spoilers pls for buying lvl 100+ SS crew i just want to experience how to be an SS player. I have tried SS1 to 3 but sold it coz its really boring, but when i see altsien, subman, greenmarine, and some others , it makes me think the other way around.

TY in advance guys

If they are lvl 100 and BVE as you say, your torp men are most likely to be capped already. The torp reload cap is quite low, at around 900k IIRC.

AFAIK it was raised to around 1350k.

About the overvetting:
It's true, concerning reload ability overvetting a torper is useless.

But there are 2 reasons why it may be an option:
1) Overvetting Torpedoman might help in SD and repair speed, if they have any ability left on these.
2) This might be even more important: weight of sailors. Subs tend to have to little displacement for holding higher level crew. Overvetting a torper means you are able to put less crew on it and still reaching reload cap.

On the other hand: overvetting planesman is always usefull.

The choiuce is yours

@BlubbBlubb

My search brought up this:

http://navyfield.com/Community/Forum/View.aspx?page=2&num=333&category=D01&searchType=0&searchValue=torp&pageCount=0&sort=5&page1=1

meaning, the torp reload cap is lower than you assume, at around 1.01 M TA, but higher than I recalled ;)

The other points you make are not so important for torp men overvetting:

- repair ability while submerged is only 30% of ability surfaced - it seems useless now to optimise a sub for repair - rather go for longer OH time.

- from SS5 onwards, there are no problems of space for "fat crew" anymore.

Conclusion of all this for OP:

Your torpmen lvl 100, with 100 vets, rest experts, have at least 2.5 M TA. They don't need any more vets.

what he said ... torpedomen cap early ... boosting and over-vetting is generally 'wasted'
( unless you manage to get into one of those rare WaW rooms where they allow subs )
(or unless you know the math for skinnying your torpmen down to cap for weight issues)

IJN 5 and 5.5 need a ghosted BO to fit all crew.

Little tip , allways try to put at least 0.2 belt on your submarine.

When using Tier 4 Sub most time you can get away with a lighter engine without losing speed when you have good engy sailors.

wow... mine don't and they're mostly all 120 lvl.  weird.

Do some testing on your true ability for your torpers.  I found a while back that the published numbers for true ability cap on them is a bit off.  Luckily this is pretty easy to test.
