  • More Attack = Less Exp blitz

I've been grinding my york for a little while now using the triple 8" Ds while AW. However my exp seems to be a little weird. From an 30k attack game I'll seem to average around 5k exp (without prem) however at times when i get as little as 4k attack I'll receive upwards of 8k exp all the way up to 12k.

Is there something I'm doing wrong... does running AW reduce exp?

You are partially correct, More Attack on Teammates = Less Exp blitz

(Just for Poking)

Ok, the fact is, your experience largely depends on team performance. If your team does bad and loses the game, you still get very low exp with even 100k attack. If your team wins, you get more exp even if you have little attack.

Blitz has mostly small ships so your attack doesn't really matter unless it's done vs bb and cv. AW york.....?  why would you even open yourself up to lols by writing that?

small calibre guns dont require 9" armour to bounce it, an aw york is a viable option in blitz.

team att, first win, torpedo attack, TK-ing, lvl difference between ship & sailors, all things that can influence your XP gain

But it makes you vulnerable to a competent player.  Why not set yourself up in a manner that allows you to compete against your greatest threat?  I've seen countless blitz newbs get off seeing an AW county sinking cls and dds but when a "proper" ca player arrived on the scene the AW was nothing but free attack.  The worst part is this encourages new players to follow in their footsteps.
I don't expect an AW to get much xp. They most likely the first one to sail into the fray vs dds. That doesn't yield good xp and it sets your team up for a loss.  All the ingredients for poor XP.  Having said that- gb for xp and bliz for creds/pts for lower level Players.

Of course my narrow point of view comes from the fact that I never touch hobbit maps so...  I guess it is a viable set up for those games.  To each their own.

I see this has turned into an AW bashing thread...

What really concerns and puzzles me though is that, at times I would score up to 80k attack but usually averaging around 40k, however the resulting exp would never break 10k for such a score regardless of if I sunk BBs or CAs in that particular match. Although when being sunk early through the rare occurance of DBs or AP ammo in blitz or managing to sink or damage a CV, my exp would mysteriously average higher than if I had done well in that battle. Constantly I found myself getting more exp for a battle in which my team won but I had low attack. The posibility of friendly fire reducing my exp was of course ever present, but such a risk is mitigated by a belt AW's need to be in slapping distance of the ship he or she is targetting.

All that being said, I understand that blitz is a shared exp mode, however the from the amount of exp I received during the week that I did my 1-60 grind I can't help that feel that the game mode does not encourage high score earning. Instead merely firing off a few rounds or torpedoes and hoping for win seems to be the aim of the game. Thats not to say that I have a problem with shared exp, but maybe rewarding players for doing well or exceptionally well might be a thought to be considered, if not only for the reason of tossing 'OP' players out of blitz faster and into GB, creating a more enjoyable experience for the rest of the blitz community.

however to respond to mako... a considerable amount of my kills came from ships of my own class or higher while doing the lvl 1-60 grind.

throughout the week that i grinded, my kills are approximately as follows:

FF: 29
DD:160
CL: 232
CA: 102
BB: 42

I know that some and maybe even most people have their reservations about AWing, but frankly I found it as the most viable option in blitz. Especially considering that I was using UK RLD gunners with a considerably unacceptional spread.

Yeah sure there are great players out there and I'm certainly not one of them, but frankly I think I did rather well using an AW setup all through blitz which may be hinted to by my one week of fame on the MDP list.

Anyhow rant over, I'm not making accusations towards SDE/TNF etc just merely stating my findings and frustrations.

Thanks to those who replied :)

PS. I'm ready and waiting with my fire blanket

Firstly, AW in blitz especially Hobbit is a perfectly viable option especially these days.  2nd, how you play is your business and I should shut up.  I guess I saw you as an experienced player so I couldn't help but hope you were gunning from afar to show people that in the end range + scouts will win you games (and better prep for GB) - that's where the bashing came from.

I never played Blitz for XP so I never paid too much attention to it except for when I seemed to get a lot.  Those tended to be games with minimum or close to minimum # of players + CV/BB +CA involved and I ended up doing considerable attack.  I did play a 16 player game with pretty much all DDs.  That was really low.  When the games get larger it's hard to really keep track of what ship class you did most of your attack to + things seem to get watered down more due to sharing with more people.  Of course these were just simple half drunk observations and probably not very accurate.

Generally speaking blitz tend to earn lower tier ships better credits and points.  GB is better for XP.  AAing yields good amounts of both if you do reasonably well.  I've found torp related credit and point gain to be fairly bad esp in GB.

Curious if you or someone else noticed ~example: do 50K attack (10K to BB/CV, 40K to DD) vs  a total of 8K only to a BB/CV.  Assuming both are wins - the 8K attack resulted in better XP.  It's like the attack on lower tier ships watered down everything.  Let's just say it's consistently inconsistent.
