  • How am I supposed to get points at level 18-21?

    08. 08. 2011 14:07

MrSparkle
I ran out of points just now classing my sailors, and still have one to go. I'm down to 4k points.

I set up a trade room asking for spare points, and many people came. BUT, I don't have 150k points to trade even though I'll end up with twice that amount after the trade.

I can't play because I can't class my arm. sailor to gunner (or I can but will gimp my gunner, no thanks), and I can't even get FREE points people are happy to give!

I'm basically stuck. I don't know what to do. In a few levels my support sailors will need classing, and I won't have the points then either. I think it cost 20k to class one gunner. That's just one out of all the sailors that are due either now or soon.

What the heck am I supposed to do? I jumped through hoops just to get this game loaded with no errors, and now I'm stuck.

GB2 makes you level too fast compared to point gain.

However, you have quite a bit more point at start than I did when I started NF (was 35k back then if I remember well).

You also would have gained an extra 20k for doing the little training missions at start.

With that and a few blitz, you'd have gotten your points I'd say. Also the free prem they gave out last month could have helped.

I'm playing blitz right now, haven't played GB2 yet.

From what I saw the training missions give pitifully low points, so I've been playing blitz and leveling nicely. I did not realize that classing sailors cost so many points though, or I would have planned this out better.

I need a way to gain a lot of points without a lot of XP, because they're all due for classing soon.

This happens when new players start playing too much Great Battle games. It sounds harsh but it's not meant that way. I'll explain.

GB2 is great for exp, but terrible for points and credits. Blitz on the other hand is bad for exp (compared with GB2) but amazing for points and credits.

It is recommendable that if it is your first crew, you play in blitz as long as you can. You will level slower, but you will gain far more gaming experience and you won't have trouble with points and credits for when you get your first Battleship.

Like I said I haven't played a GB or GB2 yet. It's all been blitz.

I don't want to have to roll a crappy crew just to earn points to class my current crew. What should happen is the removal of the 150k point requirement to trade, because there's people that are happy to give them to me but I can't accept them until I'm at a level where (presumably) I won't need them.

Either do that or get to level 30 so the 150k credits and points requirement can be removed.

They should just remove points from the game. It adds nothing but a way to piss off new players.

Points are pointless, so make the game pointless to remove the pointless frustration from the pointless points that are pointing players to other pointless games. I hope I pointed you to my point about the pointlessness of points at this point in time. Point.

Here's what you do,

Take off your gunners and put your support sailors on the slot where the gunners go. Support sailors can still operate the lower level guns before they become a Repairer/Engineer/Restorer.

Play until you reach 16k points.

Now roll 5 new sailors(3k points per). As soon as you roll it keep it, because we do not plan to keep the sailor itself anyway. They can be dismissed later and give you 2990 points back.

Level up all of them until they are lvl 3 so you can put it on your FF02.

I like using Practice Mission 02 because of its easyness and steady exp gain. I don't remember the cred/point reward well but I'm sure its good enough. I hope you have done the beginner mission when you started because it gives a very generous amount of credits and points. I don't think you can get that much the 2nd time though.

So now you have 5 new random sailors. Do not trim or add new recruits as they level because that costs points.

Okay so now keep playing with your FF02 until your sailors reach the level for DD01. Continue this until your sailors reach the level for DD02 which is gained from remodeling the DD01 at lvl 9.

Okay so now you have a cheap DD that will gain you a good amount of points per game and you won't be gimping your main crew by not classing them. Remember, you do NOT nationalize or class the 5 new sailors you rolled. Keep them neutral as they level up.

Keep playing your DD02 and if think you can afford the new guns and torpedoes then go for it. Eventually you will reach 140k points. This will be much easier if you started playing a month ago and redeemed the free prem.

Now at 140k points make sure you have 150k+ credits. If you must sell your ships then so be it since you can always buy an FF01 for 1 measly credit and slap on your gunner as a BO to be able to leave the port.

Dismiss your 5 neutral sailors you've rolled so you regain 14950 points of the 15000 you've spent on them. A good investment if it means not gimping your crew no?

This is all assuming you are lvl 30. If not then keep your 5 neutral sailors and class your main crew so that you can continue leveling those until you reach lvl 30. Until then repeat the steps above.

When that happens and if you are on the Nebraska server tell me.

+1

and firezmissles is right.. just roll for a dummy crew lvl em up then dismiss. 1 roll =10points, if you dismiss the dummy crew at a certain level it will give you alot of points(dunno the exact amount though)

try to reach lvl 30 and the point/credits requirement will go down to 50k each.

I had the same problem about a week ago, and I made it through and am doing alright now. When I went through this, I wanted to do it without relying on charity. Here's how:

I sat down and made a chart, a column for each sailor I was leveling and a row for each level. I went over the sailor tree and wrote in the class-up costs for each sailor so I could see how many "free" levels each sailor had, and used the sailors with lots of free levels left to take over my gunner positions until I earned more points.

You don't need to make a chart, but you do need to do a bit of juggling until you're back in the black. Sit out BOTH of your gunners, even if you already classed one up?it's important to keep them at the same level. Use your support crew on the guns until you can afford to class up your gunners. Depending how many support sailors you have and how fast you earn points, you may want to sit out all but the gun-manning sailors, so that you don't hit the level where your support sailors need classing up too before your gunners get classed.

After that, you may need to sit out your support sailors while your gunners take their turn earning you points. At BO level 31 your point/credit requirement falls to 50k, so if you have any good base-stat sailors that you made and don't need (as I did, which is why I ran out of points), you can start selling them. Note that the starting sailors (yellow names) cannot be sold or traded. You may not get 500k credits for an 11/11 sailor, something like 100k credits and 200k points is a bargain for the richer players who don't want to have to click the roll button all afternoon to make a new crew. Just be mindful that you can't sell any sailor that could be turned into a BO, so you'll have to check prices for different types of sailors for each nation.

If you don't have enough "free" levels on sailors who can man the guns, then you have two choices: wreck your sailors' stats grinding out more points so you can start another crew fresh, or switch to the other server and start over.
