It's not as big a deal as some make it out to be.
Subs, like any other ship classes, have its strenghts and weaknesses. The only difference is, they were introduced midway into the game's lifespan, when the status quo has already been long established.
Understandably, some of the more rigid minds aren't too happy about things being different. For they've already developed belief systems and all about how the game should be, and subs just don't conform to their perfect little way of life.
In a societal context, it's kind of like how the aristocrat classes, who have long enjoyed special privileges, won't be too happy about peasants being given equal rights that might challenge or eclipse their superiority. They perceive their elitism entitles them to something better.
Same goes for this argument ---->> "I'm a BB6. I worked hard over the years. Nothing other than a BB6 should be able to hurt me. Otherwise, there's something wrong with the system".
I don't run much bulge on my ships either, but I hardly die to subs. Maybe 2 games out of 10. Fair enough for me.
Besides, there's no difference being killed by a sub, or a BB6.
This might hurt some of the bigger egos, but I make no distinction between a BB6 veteran whos played 5 years, or a 2 week old newbie who just got his sub. Everybody is of the same status, level and importance.
People simply need to get used to the fact that they might die in ways they don't approve of, and learn to deal with it.
