Has this ever happen to you..Your sailing along battling a bb line and all of a sudden you see 2 tracks of torps coming at you.
next thing you know your sinking...Congrats you just got killed by a sub...Now before you begin you rage and complaint thread
ask yourself these questions....Did you have any bulge and some belt? Did you have an escort with a sonar man?
Were there any dd's or cl's doing asw near you? Were there any subs on your team near where you were that could have shown you
this sub before it got to you? Did you have phh or hh.

Now all these things factor into how usefull or useless a sub can be...If have played enough in the game you know how long it takes to get from one point to another  on the screen
and thus a simple counting can give you a good idea of where the sub is and you can avoid or launch phh, yes I know you are engaged in battle, but what is more usefully trying to land a shot or living to fire more.
asw ships are a huge bane to all subs and are normally the route future sub players go before they go sub so they can learn from the enemy.
Belt and buldge...Yes I know many say speed over armor but hey when you are shot almost point blank you can not avoid it so a little armor can save you...just .2 on buldge can greatly reduce torp damage.
AA escorts with a sonarman can give you the vision you need to avoid battles, now rooms with out escorts well bettter play smart....

All in all a little more observation at the begining of a battle will be your best friend know there is a sub or 2 heading towards you in the begining
will help you know when to fall back. Nothing pisses a sub off more then chasing a target that is runing away.

Oh and if your gonna start crying and screaming op please go to test forum and take that there as they all are anti sub.

I am anti-sub (in that I like to hunt them in my destroyers and have never used an submarine) although I do not believe they are OP as they do have thier weaknesses, such as destroyers that get in close proximity to them or cruisers with hedgehogs. I just believe we need more destroyer captains around that get on with the destroyers job. Just do not have the numbers in destroyers hunting for those sumbarines.

Although I must say this is not posted in the correct location, suggestions are for improvements and adjustments to the game, whilst this sounds as though its advice in which case tips and tactics section is the right place.

Look, this is just a flame opportunity.

There's no point. It's like arguing religion to some people.

Most of us know that subs are just another enemy ship. It has capabilities and limits. If you know its limits, then you incorporate those into your defensive tactics. If you know its capabilities, then you should know to stay a good distance away from it unless your goal is to attack it.

Every game starts about the same, most ships break north and south, some hang in the middle. It takes about 2 minutes for subs to cross and then do some damage. Duh.

If you are the first BB in the firing line, guess who's a big fat target?

Why would an SS waste his time on a measly little CA, when a juicy BB6, acting all macho and all, starts pushing the line forward. He gets a belly full of hurt. Does that put the BB6 underwater. No. It barely stings. Most BB6, just shrug off a salvo, and continue on as if nothing happened. After a minute or so, (they are fully aware), the SS will surface...POW. SS gone.

It takes less than 4 minutes to sink a SS4 with an FF and depth charges.

I sank an SS4 yesterday with my Nelson BB and no escort. I knew where he was and pounded him with HH. It's not hard to figure out where they are, even without sonar.

It's not as big a deal as some make it out to be.

Subs, like any other ship classes, have its strenghts and weaknesses. The only difference is, they were introduced midway into the game's lifespan, when the status quo has already been long established.

Understandably, some of the more rigid minds aren't too happy about things being different. For they've already developed belief systems and all about how the game should be, and subs just don't conform to their perfect little way of life.

In a societal context, it's kind of like how the aristocrat classes, who have long enjoyed special privileges, won't be too happy about peasants being given equal rights that might challenge or eclipse their superiority. They perceive their elitism entitles them to something better.

Same goes for this argument ---->> "I'm a BB6. I worked hard over the years. Nothing other than a BB6 should be able to hurt me. Otherwise, there's something wrong with the system".

I don't run much bulge on my ships either, but I hardly die to subs. Maybe 2 games out of 10.
Fair enough for me.

Besides, there's no difference being killed by a sub, or a BB6.

This might hurt some of the bigger egos, but I make no distinction between a BB6 veteran whos played 5 years, or a 2 week old newbie who just got his sub. Everybody is of the same status, level and importance.

People simply need to get used to the fact that they might die in ways they don't approve of, and learn to deal with it.
