  • CV crew stat questions (BO/seaman)

Invinciblor
Planning out a CV crew, going to level up one seaman, four fighters, and four DBs to start with (along with a few gunners and supports of course).

I have a few questions about stats:

(1) Heard a rumour that the BO acts as a seaman. Not sure what to think of this since seamen don't stack well, but is it worth finding a BO with decent repair/restore and decent fighter/bomber stats? I was originally just going to go with +13 pot and +11 rep/rst for my CV BO.

(2) Seaman fighter/bomber stats: my options are 11/11, 12/9 or 10/12 for a mixed fighter/bomber CV. What do you guys suggest? I'm leaning toward 12/9 since the DBs will probably be strong enough already, though I would like to have a use for the 11/11 sailor.

(3) I have a pair of SN 11/11 base gunners already, and I'd like to level a pair of 9/11/x/11 "AA" gunners too, partly for use on the CV. I will be leveling at least one engineer and repair on my backup/leveling crew, but which would be better to use on the CV?

I realize some of the stat combinations I listed aren't the very best, but these are all sailors I already have rolled. I'd love to have a 12/11 seaman and 10/12/x/11 AA gunners, but I'm working with what I have.

Actually managed to roll two more gunners that I'm going to go with for AA duties:

Acc/Rld//AAW:
10/12//8
9/12//10

I guess reload is probably more important than AAW? After classing up all the way, SN gunners end up at seven less AAW than their base stats were, so these two would end up at +1 and +3 AAW as chief gunners.

Unless changes are made in the future, AAW is an irrelevant stat (broken or disabled). Rld and to a lesser degree Acc are the important stats. This being the main reason USN uses regular gunners for AA, and IJN delay classes its DP gunners.

1) Im sure that rumor is false, the only similarities between a seaman and a BO are that the main stat for both is potential. However, on a CV a BO with high repair and restore would be preferable because the potential stat on a BO only increases the range of lines and the distance they detect torpedos, whereas every sailor contributes their repair and restore stats to the ship so this part of your theory is true.

2) Besides, I believed that a Seaman contributed a percentage of their potential to the stats of every other sailor. That could well be wrong though, I dont think Ive ever read a clear definition of how Seaman work. If the Seamans FTR and DB stats really do contribute to the other pilots FTR and DB stats then I'd use the 10/12 because Im sure FTR stat caps at very high levels but the bomber stat constanly applies its defensive bonus to both fighters and bombers, and SN has very weak fighters.

3) the AAW stat is disabled, so ignore that. As mentioned, reload is the important stat, followed by accuracy to a lesser degree. Those you have will work fine.

Hope Im right, hope this helps.
