Which setup do you guys think is better? 5 fighters and 3 bombers or 4 fighters and bombers?

5/3... 4/4 is awkward

I would use neither setup, but if forced at gunpoint, I would chose 5/3.

I would prefer 6/2.

I wonder why it isn't used as much and I can't find advice on how to use that setup in the guides of the old forums.

i tried 4/4 and i ended up disappointed.

yeah, at the start it doesn't matter much, but when you reach high-tier CVs, you'll end up stacked upon, and your 4 FTs wont be able to keep up with the enemy's 6 FT launch or even 8.

I'm working on two more FTs and 4 more bombers now, so I can do a 6/2 or a full 8 TB setup.

No one runs 5//3 in the UK? And is it too late to make one of my rookies which has 21 aircraft, 18 fighter and 20 bomber stats as a fighter so I can switch between 5/3 and 6/2?

I am running 5FTS/3TBs right now on my PCV and it is not ideal. More often then not, I don't even launch TBs. I would prefer to have 6 fighters. By carrying a lot of fighter planes and leaving them over the enemy BB line until they crash, I can keep constant vision over their line without running out of planes. You need a lot of planespace to do this.

I would like to have a TB whore midway crew, but I am not good enough with them to make my teammates suffer like that every game, so I am going to do the PCV grind twice.
1st time
BO
5 Fighters
3 TBs
1 Seaman
2 AA gunnners

2nd time
TB (BO)
5 Fighters
3 TBs
1 Seaman
2 TBs (R slots)

At the end of the day, I will have 8 TBs, 8 Fighters 1 Seaman, and 2 Pom Pom gunners, plus anyone I want to borrow from my QV crew.

I highly reccomend using arm sailors on your PCV. Mine are at lvl 119 now and I still haven't classed them. With 255 bulge, an escort with sonar and PHHs I can't envision a scenario where a sub could kill me.

Not everyone is up for this much leveling, but it is nice to be able to run different setups. Right now there are very few players good enough with TBs to justify using them over fighters. You can never have enough fighters and if you find that you would rather have TBs, there are plenty of people who make that trade with you. To answer your question, when in doubt chose fighters over TBs.
