Generally the SY on a preferred set-up would be as angeal said with 1 scout as a must 4 engies and 3 reps with 2 DP gunners and 2 main gunners, since AA on a SY is a must have if you wish to avoid being food for dive bombers. If you have a asama or B65 and are not good with the AA practice the odd angles with it, getting good at them will make your SY even more efficient in battle.
Now for a SY what i generally use for a set-up is .5 deck, .2 belt and as much bulge as i can manage without losing 1 knot of base OH speed, my SY goes 40 knots. Personally i don't need it to go 42 which is the cap speed for it, i do just fine without going 42 but that's personal preference and play style to most people.
When it comes to the 110 guns that is all about preference and curiosity, i played them and it's a bit different same max angle and slightly shorter range but less damage compared to the triples only because they have 1 less barrel per turret but weigh more due to the larger caliber. They are fun guns to play and getting over 200k attack is pretty simple if you play the SY well. Yet i would say stick with the 100's before attempting the crazy side and using the 110 guns, most people on kaiser server who remember me know i generally use the "least liked" gun sets and do quite well for myself with them as im sure if angeal sees this again can attest to it.
Some do AW the SY but you lose your greatest advantage and thats it's speed and mobility, plus you have to get into the lower angles of most players and that does not always work out so staying 3 gun and fast is your best bet, weaving and dodging is also recommended with it. Also for scout set-up use the C6N Saiun since you can carry so many they are great scouts for the job and once you have a 120 scout least until the scouts are fixed use the 120 scout, they are quite fast and durable.
