Hi Howie,
Going CV can be fun, no matter what you have. I myself found I needed a few things to help me level my pilots though...
First - do you have a BB or other line - CV is great for credits, but for some, having something to go back to to switch up 'The Grind' helps the sanity...
Also, depending on how well you do, your BO will likely level a lot faster than your pilots (at least in my case it did...). I needed 3 BOs in total to level up my 6FP and 4TBs throughout Blitz - this was just to get them into Level 50's or so - my BO's were leveling much faster (albeit, I should have leveled the pilots on other ships first - so be it, I went CV first...). I'm not saying you'll need another BO, just make sure your pilots are at least L50.
You can search the forums for a few CV styles - the most popular at higher tiers is 6FP+2TP. This allows a good balance of fighter coverage and the ability to prep TB's for the final blow. However, in lower levels, you need to balance things out a bit because you don't have the support slots.
Try using a 3FP+2TP set up for the attacker. Use the T1 Gladiator - they'll last a while in blitz, and allow you to SCOUT with them (in addition to taking out any incoming bombers). This will also prepare you for managing your Ftrs after L61 in Great Battles. Practice using manual TBing or DBing in Blitz - it'll make a huge difference for GB's. Rotate your FP's every so often to keep them fairly equal in XP - once a group levels up, switch them out for the other set.
When you make it to Collossus, with 6 support slots, you can play a few styles - use all 6FPs to scout or with the special T1 Ftrs for short range interception - a great way to support your team in GB and earn creds.
Unfortunately, until you make it to Illustrious (only one more level for me to go), you won't be able to use all your pilots at once. If you can get premium items, or have an EBB, try lvling your Pilots that way. Furious and Dunkirk are also great to switch the style of play and still level your Pilots.
Hope this helps - above all else, learn to have fun.
