This gaming company basically decided to make a HUGE patch that would of moved the game ahead alot.. 
heres what actually happend haha. The were doing an internal server test, and they damaged the player
database causing the deletion of ALL accounts, with 0 chance of recovery. They disabled the website, posted a
Facebook apology and disappeared of haha.. This game was around for 4 years, and i know people that spent
over $5,000  into it.. lol. Tough Times. Heres the note anyways :P 

Dear Players,

 

Here is a super sad news about online game < ***** > has announced to close all game servers because there was a big accident happened when internal testing on Dec 13th 2011. Our players’ database damage in the accident and cannot be fixed, which is mean ******** lost all players’ accounts. The leader of ******* has to decide to terminate the operation of online game < ****** >.

 

Once again, we are sorry for the bad news and the game stop operating.

Compensation? I hate 2 say it.. but no1 would b left 2 compensate with the exception of the newer players

actually this did partially happen to NFNA 2 or 3 years ago, during a server swap or whatever it was the whole thing crashed!

anyone that had done some serious grinding ws S.O.L. luckily (sort of) the only thing that was lost was any information (xp, sailors purchased, rolled, etc) for that week. the dev's were able to reset everything to the prior weeks patch.

back to topic.. it would be damage that $DE could not re-cover from

I remember there was another game that shared the same fate. Database gone, no back up, all gone. Makes me wonder if they didn't pay enough to the IT guys for server maintenance, backup and upgrades....

PM me the name of the game, cause god forbid its said in public which violates a rule and screws NF over as we all run towards to play the terminated game.
