Some use dual 8", some use trip 6".

Im guessing dual 8" has more range, more hitting power.

Use the dual 8"s. They should be better in both damage and range.

I use the dual 8" guns on the R slots. but I also load up the T slots with the dual 3" level 15 guns as well. gives you some added punch for those pest DDs and such in close, also lets you dish out some added damage while your main guns reload for 6+ seconds

6" trips. you could do those, shorter range, but faster reload + more shells per volley. also they're about half the weight of the 8" duals, so that's either more speed, or more armour for you.

to each their own though.
