What do you think better on US Nation ship? New Orleans or Portland?? Portland have a larger gun space. I think both can put same powerful type of gun.. But the New Orleans have more Displacement and Durability

I've used both and found them to be about the same. I think that NO turned out a little bit faster.

yea new orleans is the fastest ca in the game.
the speed can easily make up for the very small range difference between the gun sets

I like that ship a lot. If it had the ability to carry a realistic AA battery, I'd use it in GB.

I would say screw both the Portland AND New Orleans. Switch lines, and go Baltimore. It's a much better CA. You can get away with two gunning it w/ one battery of two triple 8" and still get 50k or more attack. I know everyone says that the Alaska sucks and all that because of its glass jaw, but with good gunners that have at least 125 (normally people say 100+ but with 125 the spread is best, but not a complete block shot) and 250-300+ experts. From then on, it's smooth sailing if you are semi-competent with the BC, but spread will be noticeably worse with the level 59 triple 14". Even with 130 vets and 300 experts, my gunners spread was horrible. So I had to add another 100 experts.
But this is a game of doing what you want. This thread post may be too late to change your decision, but in my opinion the Baltimore line of both CA and BB is better than the Portland and New Orleans.

Choose what you want, and have fun playing the game.
(A little hint for the future, though. Instead of posting threads and having to wait days for an answer, just ask players in-game)

New Orleans.

New Orleans can use the same guns as the Portland (although with 1 less bind of ammo) and is much faster, plus in blitz you can add on about 5" inches of deck and Armourwhore.

P.S. Don't get the Baltimore, the New Orleans is much more fun (although not as useful [B/c lack of AA battery]).

In my opinion, lack of AA battery doesn't matter. I have never seen a Baltimore that goes around as an AA ship on GB, and it is useless in Blitz. Baltimore is a Blitz ship, and a very good one. Much better weapons capacity than Portland and New Orleans.

Besides, the Alaska follows the Baltimore, which has great AA, while the Nevada doesn't.

Depends on how the new players plan for the future.

If you have no plans of using AA at all, go Orleans and enjoy having ships with not much usable AAs till North Carolina. Besides, in a hobbit war map and reload AA gunners that doesn't fire that fast, your hope is rushrape enemy ships and CVs.

If you plan to be a better USN player that lives on speed, wits and AA then go baltiwhore. Balti - Alaska - Colo - Sodak line will give you a good course on how to play USN with AA. Learn and master 40 to 45 deg hang time. The game style of Alaska isn't that different from Iowa/Montana. So the earlier you learn, the better.

Carrotdood
I enjoyed the Balti line so much, but I had to switch from Sodak to North Carolina due to my crappy crappy CRAPPY crew.

Going back to the question, the New Orleans can go all AW in Blitz and go PWNage style! Don't you love going PWNage style? I know I do, but I've never really managed to do so... Meh :P
