hood that uses 15" mark III N will have more range that nelson 16"

The lvl64 15" Mk III gun truly is a workhorse, having significant range advantage among other RN guns at BB3 level. But, the 15" ammo does not have that 'bite' that a BB player needs, compared to a blockshot 14" gun, or the high damage 16" guns. In that respect, I'd recommend getting the Nelson for its fine 16" guns.

Then again, I chose Hood because I was so used to the angles of the 15" guns and I wanted to have a different ship because everyone was automatically getting a Nelson, 'just because'. Beware though, Hood can be slow and has a big hitbox. If you have played KM BB before, then the 15" guns and this ship plays like a KM ship.

I have the HOOD right now. I found the best gun set is the Quad Mark3 L... good range good hitting power.
I have try all the gun set suggested and how found i get better Attack with this set up. The down side is you lose speed and can not armor up at all...
Because the hood is as big as all the bb5's you can not lolly gag around the middle of the map like u can in a nelson, the plus side is you can carry 4 scouts.

i was under the impression that the hood was a speedy ship.....idk i went with nelson b/c it had the ability to AW, and mount the quads which took some getting used to, but became very lethal....very fast

the main drawback of the Hood is that it's pretty much the largest target for the enemy to shoot at in the game.  that and threading the needle through the 3 passes on the one ice map to get to the other side can be nearly impossible unless you're dead on.

the nelson, on the other hand, has no scout planes, and if so much as a DD gets on your backside where you can't blast it with your guns, you "could" be in for a world of hurt. 

but up to you. some people prefer the Hood, some the Nelson. go with whichever suits your playing style, and your likes/dislikes.  worst case, save up some olives (using your $$ or the daily olives here on the site) and get a BO ship tree reset to try the other ship out if you don't like the first. 

I chose Hood for the challenge of driving an H44-sized BC. With my current level of supports (95-97), I can cruise along at a decent speed.

With the 15" Mark III L (Level 82 guns), I can shoot well into the face of the rushing Nelson with 16s. The downside is when the enemy gets in close, I can't turn Hood very well. Also, the 15s bounce off AW ships.

I can actually mount enough deck to bounce most shells. Too bad it makes me slow down to the speed of an APA. When I use that set-up, the Hood will be using 2x4 14" L guns on the outermost gunspaces and 2x2 14" L guns on the inner gunspaces.

Looks menacing. I've had Nelsons hightail it out of there when they started taking 14 inch shellfire from one of my salvos.  :)
