  • New to BBs

I just got a sevastopol and am in GB2 now.  I have never used armor in blitz but I know I will need it now.  I was wondering what armor I will need and how much to put into it.  Based on a post I found I put .2 belt and enough bulge to reduce my speed by 1 knot.  But I keep getting murdered by high angle shots so I dont know how much deck armor I will need.  Also I was wondering how many experts and vets I should have on my gunners to improve accuracy or on my sailors in general.  Also I will take any advice you have as to how to play a BB effectively, thanks.

It is pointless to put armor on sevas as you will never be able to fit enough to protect you.
I put 0.1 deck, 0.2 belt, 5-10 bulkhead and 80-100 bulge (depends on speed).
Sevas has good speed. Use this advantage ;)
Drive zig-zag and try to dodge shells thats the best armor you can get :D

100-110 vets and full experts should be enough, with good base stats you should be able to hit cap quite soon. Overvetting is good but not necessary :)

how many experts equals "full experts"? Is it just when their ability rate gets to 100%? Right now for example one gunner has 110 vets which gives him 96% ability rate and 263 experts which gives him 57% ability rate, does that mean I will need 400 or more experts? or that I still need a few more vets?

Full experts means that your sailor is full on crew with no (or very few) recruits. The ability rate really only corresponds with true ability.

0.2 Belt and -1knt worth of bulge, also called speedwhoring (as opposed to armorwhoring) is the armor setup you should use on every SN ship as far as I'm aware.

As for getting murdered, well, it's been mentioned that your gunners should have full experts and 100+ vets (overvetting, going over the 100 vet sailor item cap) should make your gunners good enough for GB2 work, you might want to consider trying to roll for more vets if you have excess experts to recoup losses. If you do, make 3 rolls at a time at most and do not let your gunners end up with uneven exp/vets or they will reload their guns at different speeds...

However, the best advice I can give you is that your problem is really your ship and your level, neither of which you can really do alot about. At those lower levels (especially with at-level support and thus low soft defense) you're gonna be easy to sink, what you should improve most is your tactic, hanging back, waiting for bigger ships to become targets before picking your moment to rush, get a shot or 2 in, and move back again. Also, try sticking closer to the middle (I dont mean head right down the centre, just closer than following the line of BBs directly south), its not always so heavily scouted and if you survive to later in the game you might get to move in on enemy ships north or south.

That's just some tips, by no means a definitve guide to GB2s at low level, I recommend you check the old forum data in the tips and tactics section for older BB play guides.

I hope some of this helps.
