Anyway HAW is far from dead in nubbit. Just nobody is doing it anymore, but leveling a US on nelson, I made it work quite well. Murders CA and BB1 quite well with APC.

However, since you are new to the game, I'd suggest keeping your cred and sticking to the atlanta since remod fees ain't refundable. You'll need your creds for brook or (particularly) NH.

It is much difficult to introduce wt is HAW.......while most of the newbies are using auto FCS.....
When i started to use HAW, i loved it. I'm with HAW until 61lv......(sommer->ddx->atlanta->brooklyn)
I enjoy giving bullets rain to cl/ca/noob bbs. The uss 5"dual turrets are the best HA gun compare to other nations....
But newbie would ignore it and use the 6"dual for dd style......
It's silly that the firing arc of atlanta+remodels are quite limited.......
You can't play it like a dd anymore. I would say that it's like a bb if it is mounted HA-gun.

Main reason HAW isn't used anymore isnt that it doesn't work. Its that its one of the harder form of shooting (as you pass an inversion in your angles, and need to correctly predict the moves of an opponent on a much bigger time scale) but mainly its a lost art.

Hard for a new player to pick it up if they don't see anyone using it, or dont understand why it hits as hard.

I still use it on NY, and it still works quite fine. I sadly dont have an atlanta in blitz anymore, its by far my favorite HAWing ship.

Once a ship get in range, its massive damage that rains down on it. And said range is quite good for a CL1.

Of course, direct fire is still better against most DDs. Keeping a backbind of HHE for them can be nice, but APC work still at blank point fire.

The firing arc are somewhat of a weakness. Compared with all the other advantages the ship offer, its a really small one in my mind. It mainly gets annoying when using it as an AA ship, which is why if I am to AA with a USN CL, I'll choose brook or omaha over the atlanta-class ships.

UK HAW DID get a bit f**ed by hobbit yeah. That I concede.

Mainly they got to revert back to direct fire much sooner due to the guns having lesser gun elevation, and the reload on their gun makes it a way more range based HAW.

It still works quite well on BBs and CAs tough.


Atlanta reload, and the fact it can HAW even in close range however made it that hobbit map didnt that much hurt its ability to do so.
