You would know better than me. how should I class my arms sailors long term? I got elite gunners, and it a good idea to mix it up a bit like go rld, acc, acc, so they can keep up. Or would I be shooting myself in foot for not going pure acc line?

Rld rld rld gives the best high level performance but is painful at lower level (you do however get both cap at BB3 lvl with BVE gunners).

Acc acc acc is to be avoided, since you cap acc around lvl 65, but rld doesn't cap until monty.

My suggestion is acc rld rld or rld acc rld (or acc)

First one gives you better blitz performance, second one is easier on the BB1 level, while still capping reload before BB4.

If you plan on going overboard with vets (150+) go rld rld rld tough.

I agree completely with aingeal. I chose RLD, ACC, ACC for my gunners and in my opinion, they totally kick ass. My brother chose RLD, RLD, ACC for his and he loads faster than I do but his spread is a little more random than mine.

Keep in mind they all even out at monty level, acc acc acc being the last to cap rld then.

So if someone is reading this with level 90 acc gunners, don't panic and redo them, they are still alright. Heck mine were that way since I didn't know about caps when I did my US eerrrrr like...3 years ago? They are still alright today, not even fully BVE and both cap are reached ( got like 80 vets on them lol)

Keep in mind acc cap is level based, so even if you have over the top vets on an acc acc acc gunner, and have the same acc true ability than someone with rld rld rld 20 level ahead of you, he will still get a better spread due to having more useable ability, as his cap is higher than ours. Rld is fixed tough.

That level based cap is why acc acc acc isnt really suggested. You end up with tons of unused accuracy.

We used to know the formula, but they modified the cap a bit (raised them) a year or so ago, and I don't think anyone calculated the new value.

At any rate, know I'm talking true ability, which is determined by displayed one AND sailors.

If you want more info, try finding adalbert guide on the old part of the tips and tactis forum. Its well explained there.

Put simply true ability is ((4 x (#vets) + #experts) * (total crew/max crew) * displayed ability

Total crew/max crew should almost always be 1 (unless you have capped and feel like working the numbers to save weight by lowering ability but staying above the cap).

As for the new caps, I think richardphat might have figured them out (or atleast some of them). That said the important thing to remember (for us) is that reload cap is higher.
