With SS5 comming out I hope that the NF development team had paid attention to my SS suggestion on the old forum
Also I think that Japan instead of tier 5 and 6 subs they instead get to chose special projects which at the moment include the I-201 Sen Taka desiel-electric sub and the I-400 Sen Toku  carrier sub

SS5:
US: Narwhal (4 forward torpedo tubes, 2 rear torpedo tubes, 1 5" gun) DP: 21000
UK: Trition (4 forward torpedo tubes, 2 rear torpedo tubes, 1 4" gun) DP: 19600
KM: Type IXC (4 forwar torpedo Tubes, 2 rear torpedo tubes, 1 4.1" gun) DP: 20200
MN: L'Aurore (4 forward torpedo tube, 2 aft torpedo tubes, one 4" gun) DP: 20400
SN: Project 97 (improved S class) (4 forward torpedo tube, 2 aft torpedo tubes, one 4" gun) DP: 20000

SS6:
US: Gato (6 forward torpedos, 4 aft torpedos, 1 5"gun) DP: 23800
UK: Amphion (6 forward torpedos, 4 aft torpedos, 1 4" gun) DP: 21500
KM: Type XXI (sorry no snorkel) (6 forward torpedos, 4 aft torpedos (note the Real type XXI had less torpedo tubes and no guns), 1 4" gun) DP: 22400
MN: Surcouf (8 forward torpedos, 4 aft torpedos (I dont really know who the Surcouf's tubes were laid out), 2 8" guns(the guns would have less damage bonus than the smaller deck guns of other subs) DP: 23600, Note: The Surcouf takes longer to dive than most other submarines with the only exception being the I-400
SN: K class (6 forward torpedo tubes, 2 aft tubes, 2 4" guns)

Special Japanese Subs. the Special Japanes Subs will have special ability
I-201 Sen Taka (4 forward torpedo tubes) Special Abilities: able to go a fast as 35 km/h underwater and 29/km surfaced. Has snorkel which can be turned on so that the sub can recharge while under water but this makes the sub easier to detect.) DP: 22800
I-400 Sen Toku (8 forward torpedo tubes, 1 5.51" gun) Airspace/(Flight Deck): 1250/ (3). Special Abilities when on the surface the I-400 can act as an Oyodo and can launch scouts and torpedo bombers. The i-400 is slower to crash dive than other subs. DP: 24200

I am thinking about a modified HEI-1 that can launch Type A Ko-hyoteki midget. These midget subs act as underwater torpedo bombers that can launch up to two torpedo then they have go back to the mother submarine to reload. These midget subs have a dp of 100 so they are very fragile a single hit would sink them.

This seems like middle-late 20th century ships.
Love the idea, honest, but they would be too overpowered in this World War 2-based game.
Especially those midget subs. Too high tech for this game.

Midget sub really is real in ww2, japan use them to attack australian and spy pearl harbour

too high tech? these things were back in WW2 mind you. The Midget Subs were used in the attack on Sydney Harbour during late May 1942. of course the Midget subs were notoriously unreliable

i definitely feel that the IJN SS5~6 should be really bizzaro an unconventional yet fun to play

The idea of a submergible Oyodo sub is cool yet i don't think it would be very effective as it has to be close to go sub mode and has to be far to act as an aircraft carrier. It would have one weird playstyle that is for sure. But, i think that if IJN has CL/CV's and CA/CV's they should get an SS/CV. Plus, they also existed during WW2 if that counts.

The thought of a midget sub is cool too. However, we have to remember that SDNet is not going to do a ton of programming for this one thing. I think the midget sub(s) should use the current Torpedo Bomber Coding. It would be a submerged plane controlled and loaded by the sub driver and used just like a TB. You line up the target and press "." to launch a torpedo(s) at the enemy. Only difference is it is invulnerable to AA and other planes, yet vulnerable to normal ASW weapons. It would die at the slightest damage kinda like being in "Last Stand" in COD games. Plus, it also existed during WW2 if that counts.

IJN would also need a practical end game sub as some people wont really be fond of the unconventional (yet fun) nature of these subs and would stick with the SS4.

As for other nations, Just a slight buff of the current SS4 (Speed, Torps, deck gun, dp) will do for the next sub line. IJN is the nation known for weird stuff (Ise BB?) and should retain that title.

The HEI was the last conventional sub built by the Japanese. A few of them were modified to become mother ships for midget subs. If you want a conventional ss5 sub that come before the special subs (I-201, 1-400 and the Type-C mother ship for the Type A Ko-hyoteki midget sub) how about V22B Type which was a planned variant of the HEI but was canceled in favor of the I-201 Sen Taka

thanks you. Having the Japanese SS players to chose between three special subs really make the Japanese unique and perhaps interesting to play and a nice break from generic submarine gameplay. Japanese were known to utilize weird stuff in WW2 then again almost every nation had a weird weapon. However only Japan were able to use their weird ideas in Navfield widespread. They are the nation that has a light cruiser, a heavy cruiser and a battleship that are able act as hybrids between conventional warships and aircraft carriers.

8 front 4 rear, would be overpowered.
Would BB have underrwater nuke then?
IJN should just have a ss5-6

Thats is my guess of the Surcouf's actual amount of torpedo tubes as she really did have 10 torpedo tubes. 6 of them were for 22 in torpedos and the rest were 16 in torpedos.

Its boring if every nation follows the same basic game plan. Give the Japs some coolness by break from standard game line
