Points are quite abundant the longer you play the game. The only real need for points is buying BBCV6. There are dozens of people that probably have tens of millions of points with no need for them at all.

I wouldn't sell a sailor for purely points. You should get credits (or a sailor trade) out of the deal.

If you are truly in need of points, you could always ask fleet mates or just open a trade room asking for giveaways. There are always a couple gracious veterans that will give you a couple million.

points are only used for BBCV6 and rolling sailors, so many have more points than they need.

i for one have given points away to new / low players, but i do check games played first.

as a side note:
on a new server (where everyone is lvl 1) points usually go for 10 to 1 cred. been a while so i might be wrong :P 3:1 has been seen too..
i remember one new server where laoji spend all his starter points rolling 12/10 gunners ...

Well, I spent my starting points pretty freely, not realizing how much I would need for class ups.

I don't want to ask for handouts or anything, and from the sounds of things I should be able to work things out. For a while there I thought I might have to put off some class-ups for a few levels to earn the points to pay for them, but I ended up rotating support crews into gunner roles instead.

Once I get all my sailors back into their proper spots, I'll look ahead and make sure I don't spend myself into the same situation again. Thanks for the insights guys, helps to get some perspective since I don't know how NF works in later stages of the game.

Don't miss classing sailors. That is absolutely a no go in any situation.

Besides, most people know that having points at lower levels is incredibly rough. Getting a million from a high level player that has no use for them at all will set you up to not worry about it ever again.

Yeah, I have given so many people points, I still have tons of points left. and still have 2bb6's and a cv6. So any new members need points on Kaiser server, let me know, they are pointless to me right now. Plus I have 3cv's as well. So if i give a million away to a few people, wont take long to make it back.

I know people running out of points because of vetting sailors before; said player also has 5 or so BB6s..

I never keeps points on my account...

I have thousands of free vets, monty gives you plenty of experts to burn from all the crits you get :)
