  • Train CV gunners now or later?

I have 2 reload gunners at lvl 50 right now. I will use them when i get the Yorktown. When i get it should i train them so that they are lvl 67 and then put them on the Yorktown or just put them on as lvl 50 and train them up to 120 as i go?

Well - 2 schools of thought for you...
1) Leave them, as most of the AA guns &/or smaller guns should work just fine.
2) Train them, and they will reload faster, thus perform better for you.

Either way depends on your play style and preference. Since they aren't dedicated AA, you really have your pick.

Hope this helps.

heads up, Yorktown cannot mount any decent guns. It maxes out at 5" singles and cannot mount hedge hogs.

You have the same broadside power as a texas with 5" duals. Suggest you train extra pilots on your R slots.

Your pilots are a priority since they should be higher level than your BO and you want them to Lvl 75 as soon as possible. However, if you train the gunners later, they will hardly gain any exp. Solution:

Sell you gunners now, and with that and some money that you will make through the yorktown, you can buy higher level ones in time for Essex.

I use my "support gunners" on the Essex gun slots, and they work great.

Support Gunners is a trick that only the US can use. Get two Elite Reload sailors or someone with high repair, restore, and reload (tough, I know). Class them as US Support Sailors at level 12 and NEVER CLASS THEM AGAIN. The result is two sailors that can use all basic torpedoes, all mines, hedgehogs, and all US guns 5" and under, plus they also provide great repair and SD. The cost is that their reload skill is pretty lackluster.

These sailors are best used in the T slots of your cruisers and battleships, operating AA and HH systems and boosting your ship to 900 SD many levels earlier than it otherwise could. Once your BB crew levels higher and can hit 900 SD without these two sailors, you replace them with real repairers or reload gunners for your final climb up to Montana and Nebraska.

After that, your Support Gunners take up space on your CV's gun slots (or your escort's), operating anything you can mount on them and providing several hundred SD that you otherwise would be hard pressed to get.

Selling them is not an option, since i bought 2 elite reload gunners to use on my cv. Finding elite reload gunners in trade will be hard and most likely costly, so ill train the ones i have later. And by later i mean to lvl 79 when i get Essex.

Train them right now. Period.

You'll need high level AA gunners or high level HH gunners to survive in CV select or GB mode. Just put them in the slots even if there are no guns. When you get to Essex and higher, you'll be thankful you did. Remember, sailors level fastest the closer they are to the level of the ship.

Also, if you bring them all the way up, when you go back to a BB, you'll find life a lot easier with some way high level gunners.

if they are elite, invest some money to BVE them. Those will work fine at level 50 for pretty much every CV gun you will need except CV6.

You had to drive a CA and CL to get here didn't you? Sooner or later you will again. When you do, you'll wish you had the gunners. Also, eventually you'll find that you need some supports. Having those gunners for a CL/CA aa ship would be nice too.

I alredy have the paralell ship line for training with its own gunners. Will put these guys on there as well to train them, but i dont swap around crews. Each ship has its own crew.
