  • Tips for low level CVs (FIghterWs)

I recently started a cv crew and although I have used a uk cv before, I was a horrid driver. So i read up on CVs and realised US is the right way to go. I then began my horrendous CV grind. I must say, the grind to bogue was horrendous and when i got it.. i was shocked at how badly i performed on it.

Bogue
The bogue is a very basic cv and frankly, I don't even want to touch it. If possible grind your way to the Independence in a CA using HH or smth. But if you chose the hard way, simply launch 3-3 and take down scouts. Thats really all you can do.

Independence
The Indy is a whole different story. Her farm is far from fair.. its so unfair.. sooo much exp and credits that i swim in them. Stuff her full with P-55 Ascenders (31) and conquer the skies. When waiting in the battleroom, make sure you are near the frontline of BBs. Pick North or South.. depending on where the higher level CVs are already at. Simply go the other direction when u see an ally high level CV at N or S. When the battle starts, load planes 2-2-2 and wait. Keep your ship far up north/south and just behind a frontline by a couple of inches/cm. See a scout? launch 1 set of planes and fly them towards the scout. Immediately load another 2/3 Ascenders right after you launch a set. After you take down a scout or 2, click the  " ` " button to send them home.Rinse and repeat for a couple of minutes. Ensure your skies are only occupied with your planes. At this time, enemy BBs have started to complain about being blind and enemy CVs are getting a earful. Prepare for fighter engage. Click around the enemy black north skies. Although you can't see anything, listen out for planes coming your way. Once you hear them, estimate their distance before launch to make sure they aren't too far. Take down the cloud of enemy planes and conquer the skies. During this process don't forget to watch out for enemy bombers anf remember to keep loading your planes! ^^

if you bring a FW bogue into a GB then you are making your entire team fail.

bogue should be used only in Blitz to learn the basics

Indy have decent planespace for a CV2 but you should try to play more like a BW than a FW, due to the fact that most probably u are carrying T1... if you put locals and try to FW you will run out of Ft in no time

the best way to play indy in gb its to use 4 ftrs and 2 TB (if you can afford it buy Tier2 TB, they use the same space as T1 and do such a nice dmg)... you can put T2, but as you are going to use for self defense the locals are best choice.

once you get to Yorktown you can now start focusing on a balance config

He's probably suggesting grinding through the Bogue in another ship.

Just got my Bogue, and man it is a money making machine, even with 1 fighter pilot. I'm grinding up my Torp pilot and another fighter pilot right now.

What's the best way to launch planes? Right now I'm using local fighters, because they destroy everything. Launching them in groups of 6 takes FOREVER, so I started just doing it in 3s, and I get pretty good results.

Once I get another F pilot should I always keep one on the deck waiting or what?

EFFECTIVE fighter usage requires at leasst FOUR fighter pilots (6 with later CVs which have bigger launch limit), which you divide the launch limit in two and launch two squadrons at a time.

Cvs are allways usefull...even mogamis or ises...are escort cvs, if you focus on take down scouts or defend your bb line from bombers/tbs, or maybe scouting with recons you can allways give a great help to your team.

In low lvl fw you can focus on intercept bombers if you use t1 or t2, or defend with locals...if you have bombers maybe you can sink an enemy cv and this way you give air cover to your team. HH's allways help too or if you have torpers you can sink enemy ss's, small things for small cv's

No wonder so many games are blind.  I can say this since i am a experinced cv driver.

low lvl dont chase fps ( ever, never dont chase u are food for them) No need to fight.  drag away from them and scout with ur fps allows and shoot only the bombers when u see them. and in most cases u will when more games.

get at lest two seamen on ur cv for a fw.

even in  a high lvl cv foucs more on scouting then dogfighting, yes its fun, but in most cases u leave ur team blind, granted other team may see as well but if u have decent bbs things will be fine, again shoot the bombers.

Never let emeny cv drag ur fps, if urs are chasing him turn to make him chase urs.

never stay at max attiude.

i am currently lvling a new cv in us as well, and many times my team has pawned the other team even when i was a cv1, since i uasally focus only on maintiaining sight and drag fps like crazy when another cv comes to shoot them down.

Pusit

When I was a low level CV I helped my team by making the enemy blind. I used 2 Fighter pilots 1 scout pilot and 2 seamen. I could fight those fighters by using locals and scout using my recon.

At least there are local fighters now. Mine still sucks because they're the most despised planes to use. (read: UK).

I started as a tier 1 CV and made all the horrid mistakes. Classing my torpedo pilots into dive bombers was one such classic.

Another was watching my fighters get eaten by AA fire because I left them at default altitude. Damn...

When I first started playing as a carrier, I was better as a line ship. Now, it's the other way around. Go figure.

Tier 1 fighters can't do very much with regards to high leveled opponents. Others have suggested that you scout with the planes and hope to surprise some bombers for easy credits. I agree with that.

Some offensive power would also be nice. The two torpedo pilots will make a nice addition to your carrier. With regard to a battle chock-full of enemy fighters, you can launch the planes when there is a lull of a few seconds. Keeping the planes as far away from the main lines of approach (North, South, and Middle) will give you some time to either scout with the torpedo planes, the Douglas Devastator; or damage any unlucky player caught in your crosshairs.

Lord knows of another player who loves his torpedo planes so much, it's the only bloody thing he carries! And he wins!

I did not enjoy local fighters when I first started. The range was simply awful. The British ones look like flying doughnuts and high leveled pilots would just OMNOMNOM. And there go four planes into the water.

If I send out bombers, which I do, I make sure to give a fighter escort. Some of my teammates are notoriously unreliable at providing some semblance of an escort. I can't blame them, they were new.

There are times though, that no matter what you do, you still lose. Don't fret. Learn where you went wrong and try to improve.

Point to ponder: BB's blame CV's when they lose their sight. CV's leave annoying BB's that whine all the time. It's a cycle.
