  • Do IJN Subs have Low Air?

    01. 03. 2013 05:54

I'm coming back into Navyfield. Haven't played for over a year. I wanted to know do IJN subs have low amounts of air?

Sorry Aderezo for the smoking comment.  It was inappropriate -- I was just shocked you would make a claim and tell people to "(pick randomly 2 ss5s and make the test)".  This test was going to prove you absolutely wrong.

Proof:  I gave you the times for the KM SS5 and IJN SS5.  If you don't believe the times, run the test yourself.  I did what you told us to do.  I'm not going to spend time on furthering your argument.  You are factually wrong.

Now, if you want to keep up this argument, you need to prove to the forum any two subs which have the same air time.   Understand, I can run the test on four different nation's subs-- so do a real test because I will double check your results.  You are the one who has made claims without any proof.

I have played subs in Navyfield for over 4 years and have made significant additions in the forums -- I don't troll, I answer questions factually.  It is common knowledge with an experienced sub player that different subs have different air times.  I use this to my advantage when taking on a different nation's SS just like I take advantage of the longer torp range of IJN subs.  If you can be in an IJN sub and go under at roughly the same time, keep the other sub busy, and eventually he will surface before you and lose sonar contact.  Its a great fun tactic.

It took me about 15 minutes to find this:

From Harry74 from a post dated 5/13/2012:

"There are differences between divetimes of subs from different nations at same tier (a few seconds). "

This is the link:

I'm sure there is more out there, but like I said before -- its not worth my time.
Give us some proof if you want to keep up this argument.
Otherwise, just admit what you said was wrong and it was stupid to challenge someone to prove it.

Hi,
well, quoting another thread that does not present any prove at all does not make too much for your cause...

Actually, I wasn´t challenging you at all, I am only concerned about the facts you claim to be true, but until today have not been justified with any test or prove...

BTW it is also not worth my time to run the tests (again), done them with SS3 some time ago. Maybe a younger member of the community with more free time could run the tests all the way.

To respond the original topic again, I do not think IJN has less air: it appears that to be the case because you are slow and it takes you more time to reach a destination if compared with a -let´s say- US, KM or SN speed-capped SS5, if you using an IJN ss5.

Good luck!

Well, GHHalley has given you different submerge times for two different subs. How does this square up with your claim of "taking longer to get there"???

Show us that two different subs of the same tier have the same air time. If you can't, keep your mouth shut.

This is what people call "burden of proof": you challenge established knowledge, you provide proof (and yes, the different air times for subs ARE established knowledge).

GHHalley is a much respected and competent player - I take his timings at face value. I have never seen you ingame...

I had a little time tonight, so ran a test with SS4s.  This is running the Test Mission with the Retired BBs.  I run a stop watch and record times from hitting the U key (to go under) until the red emergency light goes out (sub fully resurfaced) and then another time from when red light goes out until the air tanks are filled.  Listed in order of speeds:

US SS4
Underwater time:  191 secs
Resupply time: 103 secs
Planesman:  L74, Air Supply 1167, Exp 192, Vets 60

KM SS4
U: 192 secs
R: 70 sec
P: L97, A 1718, E 564, V 110

IJN SS4
U: 204 sec
R 65 sec
P: L107, A 1898,  E675, V116

Couple things to note.
Faster the sub, less the air.
With SS4, the IJN sub had 6.25% more air.  This is a bigger gap than with the SS5s.  Typically, the SS4s are faster than the SS5s (without accounting for engies).
The planesman did make significant difference to resupply time (we all knew this), though the two high level guys were pretty close.  I should do the exercise without planesman to see if the subs reload at the same rate.  Maybe I'll do this with SS1s.

This is an interesting exercise and the more I look at forums, the more I realize people think each nation is the same.  As I have time, I may do other levels of subs.

Well, thats the kind of attitude I find really annoying: when somebody has a different opinion, you order him to shut his mouth... Marvelous!

Now back again to the topic, thanks GHHalley for the test.
I will try to run it for ss3 and maybe ss5 for the same nations you did. I hope I can post results the next weekend when i´m back at home!

This is good that you are about to do some testing. Should have done this before you posted your disbeliefs.

What you are getting so upset about is called "proper scientific method".

It was my pleasure Aderezo, sorry for the attitude at first.  God Bless -- I would love to get more info on other nations if anyone has the time.  This is how the old forums were -- some of the players had incredible amounts of information which they found scientifically.
