Looking at the trade lists, I see most people are selling things for credits, and not points.

Finding myself short on both, I don't really understand the difference in value. Are points not worth much, or are they so precious that nobody parts with them? If I were to sell a sailor and wanted points instead of credits, for example, would I set my points price similar to the going rate for that sailor in credits?
