i checked both here and trainworld, and test server, MN sub torp > IJN sub torp by 700 points o.O i though ijn is the king of torps :D

Like most say, it does depend a lot on the player. It also depends on who sighted the other and is expecting them.
An IJN has no rear torps, so if you get close to him, you can, if your good, get behind him and then he's basically screwed.
On the other hand, an IJN KNOWS that, so if he spots you, comes to a halt and uses gradual to put a continual stream of torps in your face, you're either going to dodge, sink fast, or crit dive. If you crit dive, you're only chance is if he leaves, or gets attacked by someone else. Otherwise, he'll wait you out and send you to Davey Jones Locker as soon as you come out of crit dive.
The MN sub is small, fast, and maneuverable (although not the best). It can also take a HELLUVA lot of punishment, almost equal to an armored UK sub. If it's moving fast enough to close the distance on the IJN sub without taking all 8 torps on the chin, then it can take the IJN sub.
It all comes down to the player, their awareness, and their tactics.

As a KM SS driver, I find the IJN more of a threat.
In all the KM vs MN battles, I think my win/loss ratio is about 20 to 3.
As for IJN battles, my win/loss ratio is more like 10 to 3.
My most recent loss to a MN SS4 was because I was being attacked by two ASW DDs and had to dodge HH, fire torps at the MN SS, crit dive, and ended up sinking two DDs and the MN SS when I was finally sunk by a reciprocal torp.
Otherwise, the MN SS is about the same as the other subs.

i love the fact that people keep on "intelligently" saying: "the better driver wins".
don't try to act intelligent, you're acting like a fool instead.
point is, that answer is freaking DEAD OBVIOUS. if that's the answer then this thread wouldn't have existed, ya?
i believe the point of this thread is comparing their stats

You also forgot the part where I killed you on your own enemy line with my MN SS4 yesterday. MN>IJN(ss battle) Problem is, I haven't seen a single high level MN SS4 other then myself. I have IJN, KM and MN SS4. MN is best for GB. KM best for SS war and against ASW ships. IJN is fun once it gets to the BB line.

Actually, I recall that. You did good. That epsisode, I was trapped by my own idiotic BBs trying to weave and dodge and I had to hold off to fire while you were pumping torps. That was the 3rd time I was sunk by an MN SS. If you recall, you were sunk the next game as I eliminated the IJN SS3 and KM SS4 at the same time. I didn't see you get sunk after I hit you with the rear torp, but you never surfaced again... (that was the NF Flag Fail on your team)

If you have a good aimming,and a good crew in any non proximity submarine,you can eat anything. MN ss4 , doesnt guarantee you, to win the ss battle. a submarine driver with a good sonarman, good engineers, can eat the MN's submarines.
IJN with good aimming, should do it.
P.S also, know you torpedo range and/or limits.
