After playing KM and USN's little ships, SN has been a bit of a disappointment.

My first BO went Storo -> Gnevnyj -> Leningrad -> Svetlana -> KK. I hated all those DDs, and I ended up in the Chapayev as soon as I could use it until I reached the Svetlana. Going through on my next BO with Storo -> Gnev -> Tashkent -> Svetlana, I used the Chapayev a lot again just because it has so many crew slots.

I felt like the Tashkent was superior to the Leningrad, even though they both have very uncomfortable gun setups (2 front/1 back R mount... eew).

The Svetlana's 2 for / 4 aft gun setup was very nice for AA duty in GBs, and the 5.1"/45 SD-2 guns are very easy to aim.

The Chapayev is awful... slow and huge with only four R-mounts, so less useful than the Svetlana for AA. It's bigger and slower than a CA, and as soft as a DD4. It has more crew slots though, so I've used it a lot. Unfortunately when you look like a CA, you get treated like one and picked on more than if you were in a Bayern or Atlanta.

The Krasny Kavkaz is a pretty cool ship though, and the fast single 7.1" guns are interesting. It feels less powerful than it really is though, so I like to stick with the slow dual 8" guns, or better yet, no R mounts and the 5.1"/45 SD-2s on the Ts for GB AA.



So I found the DDs to be kind of blah, but the Svetlana/KK cruisers are good fun. What did some of the rest of you think? I see a lot of Ruriks and Palladas, and few other Svetlanas and KKs, is there a simple reason for that?
