  • SS1 sinks BB5! (Well, almost)

    09. 06. 2011 15:49

Invinciblor
So my SN SS1 just layed into a BB5 of some sort, I think (I might be a tier off in my guess, I'm not good at recognizing battleships). It was in a GB my team was losing, which meant I was actually able to get close to a BB before running out of air. Needless to say, I was pretty excited.

I managed to score all six torpedo hits directly to the dead centre of her length, and I was pretty proud of myself for it, since I had to use all my forward and aft tubes. Reloading wasn't really an option, since I was at less than half air and my level 40's crew wouldn't have had a reload ready before my air ran out. When I ran out of air I got sunk in a heartbeat, and looked up to see I had only five attack for the whole battle. Not 5k, just 5. I tell you what though, I messed up that BB's bulge and SD something fierce.

My goal for next round is to bring my average up to a whole point of attack per torpedo launched. Crazy? Maybe. Ambitious? Definitely. But you just watch!

Unfortunately, this makes your test pretty worthless. I've sunk BB5's solo in a CA in a GB... doesn't mean CA's are better.

Furthermore, I would also like to see a video and the setup of the BB5 you got 5 attack from for a full salvo. Maybe they were under your torp activation range?

It wasn't a test, I was just playing for fun and XP.

The BB wasn't nearly close enough to be within the safety range, though I didn't think to get any screenshots 'till it was too late. Who knows why my attack was so low, maybe it was actually an AW QV with tons of bulge... like I said, I don't have an eye for recognizing BBs. It looked kind of Monty-ish, I guess... meh.

I just wanted to relate my "WTF" experience in a (hopefully) amusing story. Of all my SS1 complaints, I wouldn't say torpedo power is one of them. I have no agenda here.

Well, an AW QV couldn't fit huge bulge amounts if it has deck on, would have to be a SW setup, which to be honest is hugely inferior to all other BB6's.

Like BB1's and CV1's, the SS1's aren't really great in these kind of environments. However, I do remember Jedi using them very successfully in the NFAFL (Just ask Ericcartman of Regalia :P)

Also, I suggest people read the OP

I just wish they used facts and evidence and were mature about it.

Well that makes sense. I'm pretty sure I made him smoke, so I definitely got through his bulge, but who knows by how much. There's always the possibility that my attack counter was bugged, too. I've sunk full-DP subs before by myself in my KM SS3, and only gotten like 6k attack from it.

The whole point was just to have a laugh at my epic sub adventure, anyways :D

if all you got was 5 attack with 6 torps then it seems unlikely that you did make him smoke unless most were duds.

Also, regarding only getting 6k attack from subs - this is due to soft defense.

If the SS was damaged before it can absorb an amount of damage and slowly burn it off. How much depends on how much soft defense it has.

However, it is hard to see if an ss has taken damage or not when it is underwater since it doesn't have smoke coming off when under water :-) So in effect, if an enemy SS has 900 SD and has taken 90% of its dp in damage already then you can send out one torp and sink him and only get something like 1 or 2k attack even though his dp bar is in green.

posting what most players would think is pointless.

Yeah, there's a lot of danger of the forums getting cluttered. I'm sorry to distract you guys from all zero other threads that were created in the general discussion forum so far today.

Also, you should read the OP, and not just the subject line.
