Hello,
I am a IJN Career CV player. CV is my 1st line and I like to consider myself decent @ it. However, I notice that in GB1 you don't get much exp as a FW CV.  Can somone please explain to me, how EXP works in CV FW....do you get exp for scouting? shooting down planes?
Thanks,
Brahan44
Kaiser

the twisted reason is ... 'the community' whined and whined about NERF THE 'OMG-OP' SUBS ...

so TORPEDO dmg and xp got nerfed .. this happens to affect ALL torpedoes .. including ship and plane versions

it basically ruined the kita which why you rarley see many in GB anymore .. also ruined the TB's for CV players

basically ...
the twisted reason is ..... SDE listening to 'the community' and nerfing based on so many whiner complaints ..

Hello Mike. I think you'll find the correct reason is that when SDE nerfed Torpedo damage, they forgot about all the other ships that used Torpedos and have simply forgot to change it back.

MMmmm....I feel GB1 doesn't give CVs the EXP deserved. I think that a good CV should be rewarded with good exp. Shooting down planes is something not all CVs focus on. I know that I ignore ALL planes on my side of the battle field, unless its a large group of DBs, maybe I need to change that, because its not worth waiting so long for only 17-20k exp...

then perhaps you could try hosting GB2 rooms if you miss the GB2 exp .. ?
i think you got used to that sink-the-flag bonus padding and miss it in GB1

yes you do maybe need to change that if you're doing the 'career cv path' thing ...

You host a GB2 and see how long it will take to fill up...especially on Kaiser?

Lol...why do I get the feeling that you sound aggressive?

If you make random teams and give XP only based on wins and losses, the better players have less control over their rewards. If you incentivize helpful activities like shooting enemy ships and planes, you give better players more control over their rewards, but you also encourage players to focus more on selfish behaviours than on things like scouting, and so on. So you add more incentives for the less tangible but still important activities, using complicated algorithms to determine things like how much vision you provided for your team and how much damage was dealt to ships that were only illuminated because of you. (There's another thread right now suggesting more different things that could be incentivized to encourage team play through selfish play.) But the more complicated the reward system gets, the easier it gets to game the system and abuse mechanics in ways that weren't intended.

There's at least two approaches at that point: you can give XP only based on wins and losses, which is the most thorough way to encourage teamplay--so that winning is all that matters. Except now you're back at the first problem. The other way is to make the incentives difficult to exploit by not revealing how they work. This is only partially effective, and it causes the problem you have now: you don't know if there's a better way to earn experience than what you've been doing.

I bet most players aren't happy with the way SDE does it, but I don't think many players could come up with something more popular, either, so here we are.

There are MANY games, and MANY styles of games(FPS, RPG, RTS, etc.) that have very successful xp formulas which minimize exploits. To implement them just take work. Thats all. They are already thought of, there just needs to be a triage and implementation of those that would work with NF. Do you think the developers at a certain other, soon to be launched, naval game are at a loss with an xp system?
