  • Tips for low level CVs (FIghterWs)

I recently started a cv crew and although I have used a uk cv before, I was a horrid driver. So i read up on CVs and realised US is the right way to go. I then began my horrendous CV grind. I must say, the grind to bogue was horrendous and when i got it.. i was shocked at how badly i performed on it.

Bogue
The bogue is a very basic cv and frankly, I don't even want to touch it. If possible grind your way to the Independence in a CA using HH or smth. But if you chose the hard way, simply launch 3-3 and take down scouts. Thats really all you can do.

Independence
The Indy is a whole different story. Her farm is far from fair.. its so unfair.. sooo much exp and credits that i swim in them. Stuff her full with P-55 Ascenders (31) and conquer the skies. When waiting in the battleroom, make sure you are near the frontline of BBs. Pick North or South.. depending on where the higher level CVs are already at. Simply go the other direction when u see an ally high level CV at N or S. When the battle starts, load planes 2-2-2 and wait. Keep your ship far up north/south and just behind a frontline by a couple of inches/cm. See a scout? launch 1 set of planes and fly them towards the scout. Immediately load another 2/3 Ascenders right after you launch a set. After you take down a scout or 2, click the  " ` " button to send them home.Rinse and repeat for a couple of minutes. Ensure your skies are only occupied with your planes. At this time, enemy BBs have started to complain about being blind and enemy CVs are getting a earful. Prepare for fighter engage. Click around the enemy black north skies. Although you can't see anything, listen out for planes coming your way. Once you hear them, estimate their distance before launch to make sure they aren't too far. Take down the cloud of enemy planes and conquer the skies. During this process don't forget to watch out for enemy bombers anf remember to keep loading your planes! ^^

In low lvl fw you can focus on intercept bombers if you use t1 or t2, or defend with locals...if you have bombers maybe you can sink an enemy cv and this way you give air cover to your team. HH's allways help too or if you have torpers you can sink enemy ss's, small things for small cv's

Mogami and Oyodo are useful only because they don't count as CVs anymore.

They were nightmares back then when they did.

I actually found the bogue to be one of the best USN CVs(mainly because I'm only on a yorktown...which sucks) because no one really expects you to be effective.

How to take advantage of this momentous evant:

Load 12 locals, and however many scouts you can hold. And if you have 2 scout pilots, load them too if you can.
righthander is right, T1s can't do crap, and I've even had a T4 SCOUT shoot a few of mine down. So use all 15 of your locals, and keep them loaded in 3 groups of 2, just like what righthander did with the Indy, but more effectively as you are a lesser target than the CL sitting next to you.

One you have your locals  and scouts loaded, get into GB, and follow the biggest BB down south around like he's your little lost puppy. Just remember to stay a bit behind allied lines, close enough that your locals can go about 1.5x as far out as the line is, for nailing scouts. Then just pull your locals up when you see a scout or ANYTHING, just remember to bring them back when you see higher tier fighters.
All the while, try to set your scout(s) down south, never at default hight of course, and try to keep them out of harm's way. I've won many a game that way, but you can't really do it as well with anything higher than a T2 carrier.

Hope it helps.

In addition to the CV1 tasks mentioned, there is another.   Having a few TBs to go after subs is a darn good help to your team.

I flight of 3 TBs into the middle of a SS vs SS battle is always good.   The TBs are not being hit by AA and enemy Fs don't really patrol over their teams SS.    Futher the Sub battle is not that far away so your TBS get their soon after launch.

You can dive down and launch torps.  You might get a hit or force the SS to critical dive.   The SS that critical dives stops and your teams SS have time to line up for a shot.   And of course, the SS takes damage in a critical dive so even if you miss, you help your team by weaking the SS.

Same goes for helping an ASW ship.   He'll see him for you and you can cause the enemy SS driver grief as he dodges torps, HHs, or DCs.

If the SS has penetrated your line and is in "sight", you might be the only hope as the "sighting" ship may be a lower lvl DD or FF that has no ASW capability.

Many great battle games end up with the winning team chasing an SS.   Fs can watch the SS but they can't do anything.   But a few TBs can help finish him off.

You have to be aware of friendlys if you chase SS with TBs.  You don't want a torp to hit one of your team mates.   So be aware of where the torps will go.

Anyway I got

5 ftrs +12 (boosted)
3 future DB bombers +11 (bot boosted)

Is that set up okay for a bouge?

If you know how to cycle crews. Because a Bogue sure as hell can't fit that many.

Best tips for low level CVs.

Listen for, watch out and avoid higher level or better fighters.

Listen for, find and kill bombers. If planes are near water, manually lower you planes.
The closer to the same height they are, the mroe effective they are @ not wasting ammo while changing altitude.

Find and Kill scouts.

If you are having a hard time positioning planes to kill others. Scouting helps your team greatly as well as you can kill scouts that launch off the enemy line if you position your planes just outside of AA or sight range of the enemy ships.

If TBing learn how to manual TB, once you get used to it, they become near impossible to dodge.

Stay away from locals, they make playing T3s a hard experience when they should be a "I'm getting better" experience.
