seriously fatmax, finding ships in the dark is all about following the planes. As previously noted, launching planes makes a little mark in the dark. But more importantly, you can HEAR the planes if your screen is on top of them. This lets you find and even follow them, and is a very valuable thing that a dead teammate can do for his still living team.

if you turn off fleet chat, there's always Ventrilo/Teamspeak

so what's the point?
