Just want some clarification here.. is the Annivesary event item drop & vet conversion w/ no exp boost?

Agreed. That and the coin event that immediately followed it in early 2009.

If i remember people were fired over that event right?

with the 2008 coin event what made it great is that you pick the items you wanted by trading in coins
if you wanted a BO rest and had the coin you could...

But I guess the TV and the other mega prizes were over the top?

I'm not sure if the BB6 events can win all of them.

Obviously, the tonnage sunk and most wins are geared towards BB6s that just grind over and over again. However, most time in battle isn't something a BB6 is specifically designed to do...anyone can do that.

And, the experienced gained thing says experience gained on a BO. Everyone with a BB6 is probably going to have a BO that is capped out. They won't be gaining exp on their BO.
