This is sort of like the debate over whether the Senkaku islands belong to Japan or China.
I'm inclined to say they belong to Japan because they have a Japanese name, but I'm guessing the Chinese have their own name for those islands as well. No one really knows, because there's always two sides to a debate. But in all likeliness the Chinese would have the islands if fighting broke out because the JSDF isn't strong enough to win that fight.

In the same manner...if people here are getting offended about "Falklands=UK" and "Malvinas=ARG"...would anyone here be offended if I had a ship called "Senkaku = JPN"?

Probably argentina has been tracking that, not because for their people, just to supplies their troops in conflictives countries with their presence. This is why, they dont want to give it up. Unlike argentina, if they have to use that Oil, they do use equally for everybody. ( Even history tells you more about UK, as a region that has been fighting for decades, and in order to sucess, they most control resources )

You are hilarious. Do you not think if we knew Oil existed in the 1980's we would have stationed far more then a handful of Royal Marines?

Oil drilling has just BEGUN, it didn't started in the 80s or 90s, it started in 2012.

We keep a strong force and a routine deployment of a Warship because of the Argentine threat.

Argentina has ramped up it's claims again purely to take off the main focus from its faultering economy. Argentina needs to concentrate on itself instead of getting some countries to gang up on the UK and tell them to give the Falklands back or........well nothing.

@ Silveryn

What on earth are you talking about?

Thats until your goverment secret was kept until 1980,s, if your goverment had a strong fleet there, there would be too much to think about, why you guys have a big fleets when there is no inmiment threat before the agresion or after. If your view about people who says about what they see , then yes, we are hilarious. The best way to keep a secret ,its not to call the attention of your neighbours of your activity in that area.

"Be pleased to inform Her Majesty that the White Ensign flies alongside the Union Jack in South Georgia. God Save the Queen."

Omg Falklands are British! They always have been and always will be!1!!11SHIFT111!1
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!111!!1!1!!!!!

On a more serious note, how exactly does Argentina plan on getting the islands back? Their military is no match for UK's, and so far after going to the UN they still have failed.

Btw China has a legit claim. Read up about the Treaty of San Francisco or something.

Lets take international political tensions out of the NF forums. The last thing we need is a split between the Argentinian/South American and British communities on these forums.

Locked.
