Well, since the old board's gone along with the model thread, I'm gonna start one here again. An excellent website for ship models is www.modelwarships.com and the forum there. My other, other, ship models are here: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/users/Timothy-Choi/user-index.html

Here's my Sovremenny Class Russian Guided-missile destroyer, in 1/350 scale, which took first place at the IPMS Vancouver model show under the Junior, Naval, catagory. Mine's the one at the very back:

Commander: Heh, you think 1:144 planes are small? Try 1:350th planes, hehehe

Masking tape is one of the most important tools I have for my modeling. I do the really small WWI/II planes, and with planes that small, you really notice when something is out of alignment. Masking tape tfw!

Kingkosmo: Use masking tape! Or scotchtape. Heck, any tape! make sure the edges are firmly flat. Paint large areas first with a big brush (but not too big!) or airbrush it, then paint the smaller details by hand.

Hey, thanks for all the comments guys!

Kevin: No, that is an Essex-class carrier.

Kit prices: Obviously, the bigger and more detailed the more expensive it is. Revell kits are generally cheap and lack detail, except for their newer offerings, such as the Type viic U-boot they have in 1/72 scale.

Some web model vendors are on the frontpage of Modelwarships.com and you can get a fairly good price comparison from that.

Galen: I'm betting the Missouri and Arizona are made by Revell, hmm?

Sailorman: Looking good! When you're done, can you send them in to [email protected] ? That'll be awesome.

Almighty: If you need any help, you'll know where to go!
