  • Avatar Content - Where to draw the line?

Hey,

Just thought i'd quickly discuss, where is the community 'drawing the line' in their Avatars ? From this i mean what is the point where the content is deemed 'Unsuitable' for on a site where there seems to be a lot of little kids (ah, probably horribly mistaken here :P )?

On other games forums, when this has gone unchecked and undecided most members basically ended up using their avatar for soft porno, so i was just wondering whether this will happen here, or whether we will actually have some decisions made on what is 'not suitable' for avatars.

If you support the idea of limiting the content please recommend on :

This way we can have the idea highlighted a bit more prominentely.

Right, i've been in Thailand and seen swastikas too... but i wanted to point out that wearing them like a joke (like Carmelo does) is punkish and childish.
Besides, they're turned to the other way than german ones.

About the sad part of our history... i didn't say he can't wear it, i just find disturbing that a kid can go around and look cool with it.

Its a WW2 game, in certain EU countries (the UK is not one of them) it is illegal to do certain things with nazi memoriablia, in France to trade it is illegal (this got Yahoo into much farcial trouble first claiming they were a French company then when the auctions attrachted the law's attention suddenly oh my word "we're sorry we're american") others to display it in public... the fact is... the swastika is a piece of our history... a sad part... but what was that famous american line? "Sir I may not like what you're saying but I'll die for your right to say it?" something along those lines?

Then of course... you have to remember... this is an asian game... and incase you're not that well aware... the swastika is a major symbol in buddhism... when I visted the Rosen-Kannon shrine (in Kyoto) to the WW2 fallen (allies and axis - there was soil from a few dozen national cemetaries) with Buddhist not Nazi swashtikas hanging on the paper lamps and... well... it was in context a buddhist holy place and a place of rememberance...

Carmelo's avatar and his swastika are more offending to me than a naked woman... we see naked women everywhere in the ads, it's no big deal anymore.

It's just a bit too explicit for a game forum avatar. Sure if you went somewhere else that wouldn't be the case.
