  • Problem with Windows 7 & NF

Hi Guy's

Yes i've done a bit of a search on the forum and have tried the soloutions already
given.

I've tried change the combatability of NF & Launcher to Windows XP- This just give
me so much lag that i freeze until the game crashes.

I've tried changing to Windows 98 - this gets rid of the lag issue and but crashes the
game after about 2-4 min's.

I've turned off every other backround program that i can before launching the game
and still nothing, also tried a clean reload of NF and still the same problems.

I'm pretty sure its not my PC cos i can run every other game fine, maybe it's the fact
NF is an old game and can't handle it. But i know other users with W7 get on fine
with it.

I'm getting pretty fed up, so any help would be great.

Many thanks

First off now with HS in use the game will use 800K of memory to run. If you not got
that free it might give you problems.
You have to run with no compatibility but with full admin and always run the launch
with run as admin work for me. I still some crashed but only the very odd one now.

Also all your drivers and Dx, and windows need to be up to date as well.

try a full uninstall then delete all left over files and so on. defrag the pc and reboot
then fresh down load and install.

I have W7 and ALL the problems start with the last UPDATE 01/20/2011,

I think there are one thing wrong in the last update, BEFORE the update, i haven't got
any problem, and I played without administrator mode and other changes in the
navifield.exe

All the comander's problem I have too.

Sry for the english lvl.

i have tried everything listed in this thread.

nothing works, whatsoever. at all. whenever i try to login with any setting whatsoever
possible, it crashes on login. every. single. time. without fail. i have literally tried
EVERYTHING. NOTHING WORKS. navyfield just doesn't work under Windows 7, and SDE
doesn't care at all.

Here's the problems with NF:

My ram before running NF

My ram after

Look how much memory NF eats up

i'm sure when the last 2 nations come out, it will eat up more memory.

I recommend a 2+ GB memory to run navyfield crash free.

Run navyfield as an administrator. It will always give you problems if do not.

It's video. With the changes in aircraft, the game's video processing of them seems to be
handled slightly differently too.

Compatibility Mode is very important now, and 98/ME setting works the best IMO.

1 - navigate to c:\program files\sd enternet\navyfield and right click on navyfield.exe
2 - select PROPERTIES, then click the COMPATIBILITY tab
3 - enable Compatibility Mode and select Windows 98/ME
4 - also select DISABLE VISUAL THEMES on the same tab

You can also hit F10 in game and turn off minor things like the machine-gun bullet effect
of AAW. Seeing that does not improve the game very much, and it demands more video
resources to display. So turn it off.

My W7 worked quite well until the latest update, now it lags and almost always
crashes during the first game I try to play. Have run a virus scan, checked line speed
(3.1).

Any ideas why this should have started to happen all of a sudden?

The problem is very old, and will never get fixed, they are too busy implementing crap
like a cv starter pack with only 2 pilots.

I think it relates to the way NF handels sound. Starting with vista microsoft changed the
way sound is handled, this however can cause programs that used unpretty hacks in their
sound system to crash, yay nf.

If you kill the sound process in Vista (didnt tried it with W7) the game will stutter but
never crash.

Also i have a hell lot of more crashes on PCs with onbord sound, that on the one with i
have here with a dedicated soundcard.
