I wouldn't really recommend this setup to anyone who is not SY level.

As the previous poster stated the spread can be irregular with just 2-guns. This
limits your already limited firepower. Thus, if you are at SY level your gunners should
be able to get a decent spread now so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

For levelling and grinding to SY, whatever your goal may be, I agree with
Ninjafroggie (on levelling.. not much else) and angus.

The 2-gun setup is a novelty for fun.

3-gun is for the big boys and serious engagements.

Cheers

Yes, but you may sometimes miss, or the spread only gets you like 2 shell hits(my spread is
pretty irregular), that's when i'm fucked...but i totaly agree, a 3 gun yammy is a beast, but
i'm just saying i'm tempted at trying the 2 gun SW setup

With 3 guns and good aim, you can land a decent salvo on a rushing L1 and be able
to run away with another salvo in the air...

"You'll be far better off with all 3 guns, AA, and still going 40+ knts."
Ok if i did 40+ knts, than ya i would be more than happy...but going 35 with only .2 belt and
2 bulk, even with 4 engys, than i find the SW very tempting
Besides i come from the normal rooms era too, but i don't get mad at 2 gun yammy, when
there are 3 gun yammy that just fictory anyway...and i think a well played 2 gun yammy
might still be good, since you stack a good fire power...sure o won't 1 shot any1, but shoot
and leave...
I like the normal yammy setup, but if i don't get a good first hit when people rush me, i'm
fucked, because 35 OH just isn't enough...an AW lion can be faster and endure more OH with
4-6 engys...

Meh, I did a 180k game not too long ago with a 2 gunned SY...(by accident)

The story was that I was teaching a fleetmate of mine how to rush properly with a
BB5, (yes, some times a BB5 rush is quite effective)...So I took off my back gun, reps,
AA and aa gunners to get a 47kn SY so I can have a easier time weaving.
After the practice, I decided to put everything back on, and join a FleetX vs all BB
room. I forgot to put my crew back on...(which left me with 4 engies, scout, 1 gunner
and BO total >.> )

I did something like 182k attack before getting sunk :S

Your obviously missing my point.

When I want to play as you seem to ie: WinWinWInWIN zomfgwtf CV fail zomg cries*
Then I play my SY. When I am tired of that, I play for FUN. ie: THE POINT OF A GAME.

You may call yourself old fashioned but I would like to call you something else.
Obviously I don't want to lock this thread so I won't.

People need to realise ITS FOR FUN. Level at your own pace. If you don't like the
setups people use. Make a Normal room saying *Old Fashioned Setups Only*. If not,
get used to it or move on.

I agree with you that shared xp is ruining the game. The amount of Local Whores,
Scoutless BBs,etc is an indicator.

But as I said I WILL NOT GRIND IN A 2 GUN YAMATO.

Anyways, you seem to be missing the point. Chill out, have a popsicle and go have
fun.

*shrug* you like screwing off, I like winning, consequently dislike people in ships with
reduced effectiveness setups. Call me old fashioned, but I come from the days of earned
XP, and it ticks me off when im on a team that gets themselves WTF pwnd because they dont
care enough to actually work for the win. Shared XP is to blame....what motivation is
there to work when you can level faster by screwing around and pulling a die, leech,
repeat as fast as you can?

Well unfortunately today is a world of freedom. To each his own.

Also, by the fact my engies aren`t up to par, I only go 38OH with a 3 gun Yamato.
So when I feel the need for speed this setup checks out. Now, you may be one of
the elitist old schoolers (or maybe just a teen with a big e-peen). But the Navyfield
of today is one where trial and error works best. One game a setup may work,
another it may not.

Now, I do play my SY with three guns as I`m still perfecting the play style. As I said I
will NOT grind in a 2 gun yammy because of the inherent problems. When i want to
be competitive I go to 3 gun SY or Yam.

When I try to fulfill the objective of the game, ie: FUN AND AMUSEMENT; I take the 2
Gun SW Yammy or Fuso.

Once again, to each his own. No need to bash the players of today nor their skill
sets or setups.

Cheers,

Krauter

I've NEVER been sunk by a 2 gun SY in anything larger than a bb2. It only "works" for you
because the average skill level (thanks to shared xp) has declined to the point where I
farm bb/ca rooms in my fuso. Any player with half a brain and a bb4 will smoke your ass.
You'll be far better off with all 3 guns, AA, and still going 40+ knts.

I will agree with you on your first point ninja,

However, once SW and played smart (and of course for fun.. I wouldn't dare grind in
this.. its much too unpredictable) it becomes a viable setup.

As Angus pointed out, your going to have a tough time getting one-shots, etc. But if
you play the IJN Ninja (Just an oversized Kongo really..) then you do well.

AA - Rush, turn sling and get out. Its the same Yamato play style with more speed
throw in an less ability to line fight.

Out of 15 games tested;

a) 9 were 120k plus
b) 3 were 60-100k
c) 3 were 0-50k

These scores were achieved by

a) Playing smart and aggressively
b) Playing too aggressively
c) Playing aggressively with no Fighter cover (while Fighter Camped)
^ Not a whine, just pointing out fact

Cheers,

Krauter
