Bah, I was hopping for some fun responses from richard, splid, dark_shadow, etc. while I was at-level. =/
Anyway, the Admiral Hipper (with 8" guns, anyway) is a fairly conventional CA. The AA is oddly unimpressive, though. (I think my Cleveland and Baltimore were better at-level) Since I'm noobing it up (sort of) in blitzes, I ditched the AA in favor of speed. (I already miss the higher cruise speed of US ships. Even if the extra scouts are nice.)
The D-land... is something else. I wish I could like a ship that pushes extremes like this (incredibly heavy broadside both for guns and AA, small size, enormous numbers of scouts, near-BB1 range, small size, and lots of DP), but the meh cruise speed, bad firing arcs and OH ratio, and limitations of a poorly experted/vetted at-level crew (eg: I'm using the first set of 11" Ns, since I don't have access to the second set, and finding marking my shells rather non-trivial)...
...It's one of the worse BBs that I've played (compare with how the Cleveland is a painful CA). But at least I don't feel bad about taking it to GBs.
Mesy: 6) Not so much. The Mpro has a worse cruise speed, and the same OH ratio. OH is perhaps better with the CV engine, but cruise speed takes a major hit. Also, like the Agano, using the CV engine and much other stuff (heavy gunsets, anything on the T-slots) causes you to run out of displacement well before the next ship. = Mofox: Er, thanks? Also, you're not going to get any points by spamming.
askldjgowirg: 2) But the Spaekhruzer looks so hawt with a set of dual 6.75 sN... =/ (I sent a BO down each line anyway. The offset levels for the single/dual guns that the Z31/46 were supposed to use were annoying.)
5) Er, it's 3 binds on the Kberg. The Mpro only gets 2 with the 5.9 L.
6) Good point. It probably would help with the issues I had when I was running 8" N on the Kberg. (Running out of ammo with meh-attack. And no, I couldn't deal with the 6.75 sL. The lack of damage got to me. This is an ominous sign.)
7) That would make sense. And of course, that makes them even more useless. Silly Italians... >_>
8) Sort of like how the Northampton once got stuck with dual 8s for a level or two, and the Agano with dual 6s? (AFAIK, the Kusts are roughly comparable to the first set of 11s)
9) At all? I guess trainworld is in error here?
As an aside, what happened to the carrot-eating rodent?
