So, yeah. I've been playing low level KM ships lately. And the results have been odd.

1) Why are the only mentions of those semi-high angle(!) 5.9" guns in 4 year old posts? I
was not expecting these guns at all. Of course, the lack of a proper Atlanta clone means
you can't go completely crazy with them...

2) Why does the D40 have so little displacement? Those 6.75s are tempting, but so hard to
use at-level...

3) The K-berg can fit dual 8" N with 3 binds? Insanity! Though the best I did with it was
~14.5k in a blitz. =/ It's also a vaguely Agano-like ship. Worse in that the guns
(aside, maybe, from the 8s) don't hit as hard, and it doesn't have many scouts. But it's
slimmer, faster, and the CL2 FCS is nice...

4) Is it me, or do the second set of 6.75s (all of them) range the first set of 8s?

5) How do you deal with the limited ammo with so many setups? (5.9s on the kberg only
give 3 binds. And then 5.9s or 8s on the mpro...)

6) Is the M Project actually an upgrade? Slower, worse FCS, smaller gunspace makes for
more limited gun choices... I guess being able to mount (rather limited) AA is nice?

7) What are the triple 5.3" (premium) guns for? They seem to bounce off of ships more
easily than the 5.9s, but are lighter and fire faster. It seems like the 5.9s are better
for the Bayern, but the 5.3s would ideally be used there...

8) Why are the Moltke guns more than 10 levels lower than the ship? Some sort of stealth
bonus? (Ignoring that they'll have bad spread for a *long* time)

9) Deutschland or Admiral Hipper? Just kidding -- I'm running 2 BOs. But is there any
silliness with the various sets of 11" guns I should be aware of? (Aside, maybe, from
using second set Ls with limited firepower/ammo on the BB1s)

I love playing the Prinz Eugen with 5.9s. With good gunners (even at level) with
their range, You can have 3 salvos in the air at once. It's the closest I have ever
come to a machine gun effect, apart form AA guns. It's a hoot to play in Blitz or GB2.

I keep one in my harbor for just when I need a lift from the grind boredom. You can
rack up alot of damage when you hit even a high level BB with 12 shells ever second
or so. Imagine that in Blitz?

When you get to the decision about which BO to advance to H39, pick your Z31 BO. Using the Spaehkruzer as an
escort is very nice, it gives:

Leet AAW
Sonar
A fat meatshield/torp bulge

It pwns.

1. Those guns are nice on the Z99, bit once you get a CL the 6.75 are better.
2. Because it is so low level. Like previously mentioned the Z99 is much better anyway.
3. The Kburg is nice but as you level you will have a hard time fitting your crew on there.
4. I'm not sure if they range them but they are indeed close. The 6.75" arnt bad on the
Hipper/PE if you are having spread issues with the 8"
5. Choose your shots wisely. Its no different then dual 8"Ns on Cleveland (2 binds) or
dual 8"ds on Brook.
6. The Mpro goes something like 53 knots with the CV engine near max displacement. It has
more displacement then the Kburg so you can use a higher level heavier crew and has more R
slots then Kburg. If you chose to use AA on the Mpro, the back 3 Tslots with 3.46" AA work
nicely.
7. I have tried those guns and wondered the same thing myself. They are pretty bad though.
8. They are useable on the Dland though trip 11" are better.
9. you can only use the second set of Ns on BB1 iirc.

Just remember that 5.9" on a CA is fail outside of the stupid hobbit map and you WILL be
food for a skilled player. DD caliber guns on a CA is funny, especially when you meet one
of those guys that knows what he is doing and you start getting raped by a DD that is
ranging you with more powerful USN 7" guns. You arn't on AZ though so I guess you dont
have to worry about Picasso or Woodwork.

*hunts through patch notes*

Huh, trainworld didn't update second set trip 11" L size post DD-BB2 patch.

Second set trip 11 Ls have almost L1 range, KM BB1s would be crazy with those
guns.

Lack of damage in KM? Surely you joke!

Also, Mesy is correct those triple 5.3" guns went on the two forward T slots of the Andrea
Doria. Followed by 3.5" Singles. I've always wondered if that was supposed to be a typo
though since the singles are 3.5" and the 5.3 were really meant to be 3.5" trip sets.

KM BB1s cannot fit the 2nd set 11" L guns with ammo. I believe they fit on the physical
ship, but you'll be unable to load shells.

Bah, I was hopping for some fun responses from richard, splid, dark_shadow, etc. while I
was at-level. =/

Anyway, the Admiral Hipper (with 8" guns, anyway) is a fairly conventional CA. The AA is
oddly unimpressive, though. (I think my Cleveland and Baltimore were better at-level)
Since I'm noobing it up (sort of) in blitzes, I ditched the AA in favor of speed. (I
already miss the higher cruise speed of US ships. Even if the extra scouts are nice.)

The D-land... is something else. I wish I could like a ship that pushes extremes like
this (incredibly heavy broadside both for guns and AA, small size, enormous numbers of
scouts, near-BB1 range, small size, and lots of DP), but the meh cruise speed, bad firing
arcs and OH ratio, and limitations of a poorly experted/vetted at-level crew (eg: I'm
using the first set of 11" Ns, since I don't have access to the second set, and finding
marking my shells rather non-trivial)...

...It's one of the worse BBs that I've played (compare with how the Cleveland is a painful
CA). But at least I don't feel bad about taking it to GBs.

Mesy:
6) Not so much. The Mpro has a worse cruise speed, and the same OH ratio. OH is perhaps
better with the CV engine, but cruise speed takes a major hit. Also, like the Agano,
using the CV engine and much other stuff (heavy gunsets, anything on the T-slots) causes
you to run out of displacement well before the next ship. =
Mofox:
Er, thanks? Also, you're not going to get any points by spamming.

askldjgowirg:
2) But the Spaekhruzer looks so hawt with a set of dual 6.75 sN... =/ (I sent a BO down
each line anyway. The offset levels for the single/dual guns that the Z31/46 were
supposed to use were annoying.)

5) Er, it's 3 binds on the Kberg. The Mpro only gets 2 with the 5.9 L.

6) Good point. It probably would help with the issues I had when I was running 8" N on
the Kberg. (Running out of ammo with meh-attack. And no, I couldn't deal with the 6.75
sL. The lack of damage got to me. This is an ominous sign.)

7) That would make sense. And of course, that makes them even more useless. Silly
Italians... >_>

8) Sort of like how the Northampton once got stuck with dual 8s for a level or two, and
the Agano with dual 6s? (AFAIK, the Kusts are roughly comparable to the first set of 11s)

9) At all? I guess trainworld is in error here?

As an aside, what happened to the carrot-eating rodent?

1) because....well no one uses them. you can use the same gun set from Z1 to Z99
without realizing it

2) it's quite an unpopular line compare to the normal Z1-Z46-Z99, Z99 is much better
anyway

3) kberg can fit 11'' single too, quite some near-BB1 range there

5) i believe 5.9 Ls are actually meant for hipper considering only 3 binds on M pro

6) i do like the gun placement on m pro better

7) they might have been PBB guns on the larger forward slots, i could be wrong

8) i suppose they are your alternative option on scharn

9) BB1s can't fit the second set L

second set L singles does not exist

dland has ammo/displacement issue runnign second set. sometimes i even have to run
first set N

hipper/eugen with 11'' singles is pretty lame =/ bayern is a whole different story though
