  • Am I on the right track for getting a CV Easy?

    12. 07. 2010 16:18

TheHoon
Hey guys just had some thinking with this winter event going.

My BO i want to get into a CV is currently driving a Texas PCL at lvl 39. My thinking is
to leave him in this until lvl 46 then switch over to the New Orleans. From there if i
can snag the PCA (pescola), is it better to transfer him to that at lvl 51 and work up
to indy or to go to bouge at 50?.

Background informaion. I have never used a CV before and this is my Highest BO
(kinda sad but i dont get to play much). I have 4 rookies currently between lvls 35-
30 and a spec forces at lvl22 (am working on getting some more pilots up as I lvl my
other BO (lvl 17 atm =( ).

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Currently my (Fighter)FFX4 on training is lvl 15 and (BOMBER)BBerX4 is lvl14
so i train 1 BO along with them to lvl 20 at my atlanta for AAing? will that help in
getting them more expert?

Yes, AAing will help you get more experts. I leave the rest to stickies to guide you how
to AA. What you're doing so far is alright for now and keep doing that all the way to
classing (which is roughly will happen at New Orleans or late Atlanta.) and even then, you
can always fall back to AAing for other reasons (it's basically an expert making machine
with $$$)

I'd recommend getting them by in pairs (x2 fighters, x2 bombers when getting them to
bogue) to have a balanced load out against CVs in blitz. Many opt too often to be
bomberwhores which in my opinion is a bad idea as opposing CVs will want to get rid of
their rivals first and as you progress to Indy, you will become a bigger target.

PS. I recommend skipping Portland, Atlanta is a very special one-of-a-kind fun ship that I
recommend enjoying every ounce you can get from her before you outgrow her.

EDIT: Sorry I meant to say Northhampton, but keep getting the New Orleans anyway. Today's
blitz is more about hobbit wars than ranged fighting so it's kinda sad to say Portland
won't have much shine as the Atlanta does; Atlanta can at least lower it's angles and bite
off any snobbish DD thinking to rush you without worries.

I recommend you getting the bogue, obviously youhave heard the comments from
other players and they are right in what they say.

I have raised 6 fighters from the very beginning never took 1 off all at the same level
and all same exp. When you reach CV4-5. Buy some bomber's, at this level if your
buying fighter's you will have absolutely no cash left for advancement.

Bomber's are cheap and you only need a base 11+ for bomber stat and you don't
even have to boost.

I raised the 6 currently L104 on my Hindenburg and you will be a much more skilled
player if you play with your fighter's for CV1-4... you will learn about launch time's,
letting your fighter's drop as appose to coming back to your ship...etc

*************
NOTE
*************
Get 2 other potential +15 sailor's and one of them a +12 in fighter stat.
the one +15 is for medic the most important sailor on your ship that never leave's
and the second is for a seaman which will give you the edge against another cv @
level.

ACC gunners are good for HAing so they're good as is for Atlanta (I recommend remodel it
to either Oakland or Jun II. Refer to the stickies for your preferences). For now, just
get your pilots to their classing on time. You might want to prepare a second BO because
you will soon find your BO outpacing your pilots and hence you will leave Blitz sooner
than expected unless you have a prem ship.

I personally recommend getting an AA ship. The Omaha, Atlanta, Pensacola and even your DDX
can fit these roles nicely but a KM ship like the Emden and Moltke will be the best bets
for your pilots to level in. Plus, CVs are expensive so the extra credits are very useful.

Why (the irony)? Simple, to reel in experts as they go along the levels.

Your fighters are gonna have a tough time dealing with the bigger CVs and high tier
fighter planes to the point your locals won't even cut it. More experts won't exactly kill
them outright (at least not in your current T1 planes) but it will increase their survival
in the air as opposed to be downed in seconds using locals.

For the case of bombers (esp. TBers.) it improves their chances to withstand AAW damage a
bit more and maybe the accuracy of your bombs in DBing.

You don't need to level the restorer, buy him instead if you really need the SD. Oh and as
for the medic, you don't need that guy much anymore due to a recent NF patch unless you
want to save some experts. Vets are practically immortal now on pilots.

Now before anyone else will say Atlanta is a piece of crap with slow snail's pace, try out
HAing (High angle). Hopefully in rooms beside Hobbit but I find that I can play it in
Hobbit just as well. You just need to be well aware of torpedoes. If this thing had a
scout, you'd be really overpowered to the point you'd scare the pants off of BB players.
I'm curious what kind of gunners you have though. If you use, REL gunners, best instead to
use the ship for AA.

As for the moment, just make sure you class your pilot on time from rookie to their
respective roles.

richardphat also made a chart somewhere in these boards about pilot classing, I suggest
you try search it.

As it was said, you cannot powerlevel sailors anymore. I guess SDE realized servers are
getting empty so this was an attempt to force people to play more games (and spend money
on premium) to get BO for line you already have sailors for.

The Bogue is where you want to start. get at least 4 fighter piolts. its better for you
as fighters help generate creds faster. a single scout can range from 30+ creds, a
fighter 100+ a bomber 100+ as well so it helps pay for the cv you need.

i find that us dive bombers are very effective. in my cv i use a 3-3 split of fighters and
bombers and a engie support. use this site to get more info and help you shape
your plans. http://www.trainworld.us/NF2/English/index.html its a hub of info and is
where i find info on a regular bassis. if you are on the yamato server find me ill do
what i can to help you shape your crew man. and also make a medic.. you will need
it in GB2's .

Much luck to you.

I almost forgot to add in. Not as important nor does it even concern CVs somewhat.

Try driving an AW New Orleans (it's probably the only chance you'll get to experience
AWing a ship anyway). I'm not sure what kind of gunners you have but hopefully it's ACC
ones if you really want to have fun with it. I'll agree it may not be as good as the Balti
but since you'll have it for awhile, why not give a whirl just for kicks?

Make sure you have enough creds save up for a Yorktown though (Yes, more so for Yorktown
or at least the bogue. Credits roll in pretty fast once you get a CV even if you hardly
killed anything.)
