Avoid them as fire.Nothing worth to pick UK sub.Maybe armoring but if gets to there, you
are toast anyway.
For best turning, stealth torps, huge splash pick KM
For insane damage for each torpedo pick IJN
US and UK sub are average and dont have the edge if both of you and your enemy SS are
equal at skill.

have a full OH load when going into your first undewater dive (at the BB fire line);
that way you get maximum speed underwater for your first gulp of air.

Motor along trying to use your OH, until you get close to the enemy BB line. Then
build your OH up until you need it during a chase.

If you learn how to burn your OH, you can cross no-man's land with more air left in
your tank when you get to the other side.

OH recharges underwater. The amount of sailors on a sub and whether it overheats
or not does also not affect the bottom time (determined by tier level)

Yes, I think OH re-charges under water.
I mean save it when you need it most.
Closing in on enemy BB line ASAP will allow you to reload torps at least once before
you air supply is exhausted.

I only have UK SS2, whilst it does have 6 forward & 2 rear tubes, it does seem
slower than most other subs. Putting on a lvl 95 engy gives me extra 2 knots
overheat, so 24/30 on the surface, 20/26 submerged. Some T3 + T4 subs can OH to
40 knots above water!.

For crew, you have the right mix, but SS2 can also fit a repairer.
The only stats that stack for all crew is repair/restore, not engine.
BO + Sonar - at least 10/10 rep/rest, 14 Pot is plenty for Sonar.
Planesman - Try get 15 pot, also with 10/10.

The 2 most important tactics for a sub are surprise & speed, so you'll want plenty of
exp/vets on your planesman & engy.
Submergance time is dependant on the what tier sub you have, that's why most ppl
skip the SS1, also why your planesman is so important in re-filling those air tanks
quickly.

I agree with Challen about not classing Sonar beyond 2nd class, but maybe not the
Planesman for reasons above.

As for tactics, I can only suggest some basic tips:
- Stay on surface when not in range of enemy BB's etc
- Hide under clouds to re-charge your air
- Pop up under enemy CV's with no guns to re-charge air
- Save your OH to close the gap faster to enemy BB line
- Try hitting AW BB's first (minimum bulge - UK), IJN BB's last
- Avoid other subs in lower tier subs, DD's & FF's
- Try to learn best situations to use slow/fast torps
- You don't have to sink capital ships to earn good exp, just hit them
- Keep an eye out for BB's already hit by TW's & TB's, they will have less bulge.

Happy hunting.

biggest thing you'll need to level, on a SS1 especially, is your planesman. you don't get
very much air at all, and you're only doing about 17-20 for speed (submerged-
surfaced).

you'll need level 47 torp sailors just to use the torps on the sub. you can't swap them
out. the same will be for the SS3, you'll need torp sailors the same level as the ship in
order to use it other than for target practice.

"T type is the uk sub that has 8 forward torps right?

why is SS1 so bad i mean i know its not gonna be easy but chargeing and not last
whole game is fine with me but isent 4 forward torps good for SS1 and a decent
turning force "

SS1 is slow and fragile. Even if you BVE your torpers, the reload won't be capped until
you get close to or reach SS2. If you come across another SS or ASW, you'd be lucky to get
any damage at all which makes for a long grind. AA'ing would likely net you more xp per
battle and get you more experts.

As far as the T-Type, I had to look that up... 10 forward tubes which was later refitted
to 8 forward, 2 rear

Your sailors are fine. Don't worry. The difference is minimal.

The grind is tough up through SS2, gets good in SS3 and 4. By then, SS5 will be
coming out about L100 or thereabouts.

If NF goes with the T-Type, that is gonna be one serious bad boy.
