  • EBB Resolution Gun setups/Guide

Alright, lets start this off with a quick intro...this will be a guide for the newest
Royal Navy Battleship, the Resolution. As many know, the Resolution is a Event Battleship,
so the only way at this time to get it, is to win it through events. (Such as the
successful summer event of 2010)

The Resolution itself is more or less just a remodel of the Revenge, with its DP and
support slots buffed slightly.

The ship itself, while certainly not overpowered, and even considered one of the weakest
of the EBBs is a useful addition to many crews. While it may not be the leveling machine
that the RN PBB is, it can be used for leveling sailors effectively. It also will be
useful in helping players to grind through the Renown/Repulse.

The Resolution is a LVL 61 ship, and has 2 R slots, 2 T slots 1 BO slot (which Any sailor
can use as long as they are above 61) and has 7 support slots.

If you would like to see the Resolution compared to the other EBBs, I highly suggest
checking out this thread by Dampre

http://www.navyfield.com/board/view.asp?Num=181772&Sort=C06&Order=re_upday&PageSize=20&Page=1&Ctg_1=&Ctg_2=&Ctg_3=

Anyways, enough with the introductions, lets jump into some set ups for this ship.

\\\\The General Setup////

1- Engine - BB engine 1 is the only option, unless you want to go slow.
2- FCS - Either the BB Aiming or Auto (if you must) but it is highly suggested you use Aiming
3-Scouts- This ship can fit 3 to 5 UK scouts, so use em!!!
4- Armour- I'm personally a fan of ships set up for speed, and only put 0.3 Deck/Belt and
enough bulge till I lose a knot of speed.

5- T slots- Unfortunately from what I seen, the T slots aren't very useful for AA work,
and I would suggest using them to level up your extra supports or you may be able to use
HHs on them if you like. You can place 4 binds of HHs on here.

PomPoms are also an option here if you have the AA gunners to use them. While limited in
use, they may prove useful. (Thanks to Ferrard for the reminder here)

\\\\Guns////

Ok, for this ship, there really is only 3 options for guns.

1- LV 62 Dual 15"/42 Cal Mark 3

Now this is what everyone was excited about. These guns offer the highest range possible
for this ship, high damage and a decent amount of ammo. ( up to 6 binds) My ship moved at
23/38 with this setup, so speed is sacrificed.

2- LV 58 Dual 12"/45 Mark X

These are the EBB Dreadnought guns. Relatively fast firing, but do low damage. They
offer the second best range of the available gunsets and near endless amounts of ammo. (22
binds!!!) I was able to get a speed of 27/44, making this the most speedy setup.

3- LV 75 Dual 14"/45 Mark 2

Here we have the KGV/POW secondary guns, designed to fit on the small front R slot. They
however work great on the resolution as a possible setup. These guns do blockshot and off
decent damage. 4 of these turrets can equal the potential firepower that a pow can muster.
(2 gun pow). 3 binds were available here, and it moved at 24/39. Their range was slightly
less then that of the Dreadnought guns.

4- LvL 79 Quad 14"/45 Mark 3 D

This looks to be a fun setup. These guns blockshot for massive damage. Four of these
turrets will almost generate double the firepower of a POW. However the cost is speed and
range. A ship carrying 4 of these will be the slowest (22/36) and lowest range of the
setups outlined here. This probably will only be a novelty setup.

Range - 1>2>>3>>>4
Speed-2>3>1>4

In the end I suggest trying each setup. I've yet to develop a favourite, but am leaning
towards the number 1 option, simply for its massive range.

The Resolution plays very similar to most BB1s, you need to stay back with the main BBs
and shoot at smaller ships which rush. You also need to pay close attention to the enemy
and when they are blind or distracted by your allies, rush in and land a few salvos before
rushing back out.

If someone has anything further to add, please do post and I'll update this with credit.
If anyone has a armoured setup which works, please post it, as I don't at this time have
the credits to try out an armoured set up.

This data was compiled using a lvl 89 ish crew.

Goodluck and enjoy the Resolution!

If it can mount the Mk III N's after the patch, then there's no contest. They've got a
longer range than Mk I or II L's and the 12" EBB1 guns, and they're lighter than the Mk II
L's. Spread's atrocious, but that's how it goes, especially with an at-level crew.

Well, we'll have to see after tommorow's ebb patch as to what gun changes are being made.
(Gun choices will be updated probably Thursday) but... for an at lvl crew, I would try the
12" guns, given that you'll need as much range and speed as you can get.

Once the patch is released, the 15" repulse/QE guns may be an option. However I'd have to
do some testing to be sure. (they may end up being too heavy, or maybe be ok...)

what would you prefer for an at level crew on a resolution? what kind of guns and
etc. ?

Dunno what y'all are worried about in terms of weight - Trainworld has the Mark III N's
weighing in a full hundred tons less than the Mark II L's. The Resolution might actually
gain a knot as well as the nearly-BB3 range, in which case she becomes a QE who dropped
half its AA suite into the water.

after the patch, the resolution basically turns from a paintjob of revenge to a paintjob
of queen elizabeth. 15" MK III N's will bump up your range immensely finally making
you competitive to most bb123's. however, since no engine revision is added you will
loose some speed, and the QE is really close to topping out its displacement when you
fully load it with crew and eq (no armor), so that might be an issue too.

long story short, only get the resolution if you want to get the nelson/hood/vanguard

That is very interesting indeed, I'll be sure to adjust the listed guns once the patch
happens.

And they say we can use the L guns of the next tier gunset... that is interesting.
Especially since UK is very limited in gun choice. I wonder if, we will get the N version
of the Mark III 15s, or if we will get the hood guns.

As for PomPoms, good point, I'll add that in.

Looking at the stats of the QE and Repulse (BB2s) We will likely get a R space buff of 36
going from 290 to 326.

This will allow us to use the

LV 64 Dual 15"/42 Mark III. This will give the resolution an extra 2 inches of range (on
my screen at default zoom) Which may be significant, if the guns aren't so heavy that they
slow down the ship too badly.

I feel like this won't really change things for us. I'll probably still use the
Dreadnought guns.

After this EBB patch . We'll get Dual 15" MK III N on Resolution and no more Triple
15" MK II . What do you think about this change ?

Something else to note is that the Accuracy of the 15" trips is absolutely horrid. They
are heavy hitters, but at max range, the spread goes out the window.

I still haven't made up my mind between the 12" and 15" duals, but I'm leaning towards the
12" even though its damage is low. The Resolution needs every pixel of range it can get
when it's facing even BB2's, and the 12" has a slightly tighter spread than the 15" duals.

Also, pom-poms can fit easily on the T-slots and give you something to do while cruising
along out of range. Not especially useful, but better than nothing, and more useful than
10 hedge-hog "shells". If you're leveling though, best to leave 'em off like you said.

Well imo the lvl 58 are better for the revenge,a bit lower range and heavier but better
firepower,reload and spread.
But the lower bind on resolution may make the mark3 D a better option

I just tried the LV 58 Dual 15"/42 Mark II L and I would say you are better off running
the Mark III D if you can.

With the Mark II my ship moved at 22/36 and held 2 binds of ammo compared to 23/38 and 3
binds with the Mark III.

Range, seemed to be very close, but its possible my poor spread with the guns caused this.

If you can, use the lvl 69 guns.
