When you overheat you have to wait your overheat time to start overheating again
for the full time.

I notice myself holding the F key forever sometimes in the heat of battle.

So suggestion:

Once over heat is over kill the F key so even though its being depressed it doesnt
register in game.

Other suggestion:

Include a light or fill bar (4 colors red, oragne, yellow, green) saying that your
overheat is back at full potential.

No colors - empty
Red - 25% of overheat is back - you'll overheat 25% of your overheat time
Orange - 50% of overheat is back - you'll overheat 50% of your overheat time
Yellow - 75% of overheat is back - you'll overheat 75% of your overheat time
Green - 100% of overheat is back - you'll overheat 100% of your overheat time

EDIT**

Edit****

Or even just a green light similar to that of landing forces just showing that your
overheat is back at 100%.

This shouldn't be hard to implement.

Make it 4 lights.. every light means 25% ready. It should be piece of cake, code wise, but
graphical implementation, I have no idea.

One would think it shouldn't be too bad...

shoi,
I dont see how this would be difficult to implement. They already have the timer for
overheat, why not just make it visible. And the graphics cant be that hard, they can
use something similar to the landing light for APA during HA.
