  • depth charges nerf a little

i get the idea that depth charges are suppost be be awsome vrs a sub but i was 3-4
inches away from them when they went off still got 1/2 killed in my ss3? this seems
a bit overpowered anyone else?

suggest range be a bit smaller

I consider myself reasonably experienced in ASW. And I agree DCs are overpowered...but
only if you can get close enough.

I figure any SS that lets me close enough to DC him deserves to be sunk. Enough said.

lol I never expected DCs to be 'overpowered', the fact the ship had the gall to come
up close and personal to you says ALOT of courage. Heck just going out of the way
for a dedicated ASW line means a lot already, this group is rather rare. I'd
congratulate these guys even more when they manage to sink my KM SS.

Now with the advent of SS4 and no improvements for the ASW ships, you still cry for
overpowered? I see more SS get fragged by BB shells when they surface than killed
submerged on account of DCs.

If there's any 'overpowered DCs' it's the Hedgehogs, they hurt as bad as HE on the
surface, comes in spam quantities and sure as well impossible to avoid with a well
placed shot and having only 2 seconds delay. Of course that means they spent
money to piss you off, congratulations troll.

Overall, no support. ASW teams are already being an underdog as they are, don't
discourage them more.

Depth charges are over powered, 4 charges should never take out a KM' ss4 with full health. I have over 800 sd, and
I get taken out by depth charges all the time, they work only because they don't have a fail rate. I would like to see
them if they fail 50% of the time like torp's do.

We could go as far to say that late war aircraft machine guns could sink a sub.

Sub torps only severely hurt a battleship if the torpedo detonated below it's keel via
magnetic warhead. So the splash damage of torps exploding is ridiculous. Also, sub
torps were designed not to detonate when max range is achieved to keep the enemy
unaware of the subs location.

Not trying to make a pissing contest over realism. One thing I do think would be cool for
subs to have are torps with no trail since most late war designs were electric, not wet
heater. The IJN Kita torps have short trails because they used special kerosene-oxygen
propelled torpedos. They did that for IJN, why not make something special for subs?

It depends on how well constructed the battleship is also. Also battleships that were sunk
with less than 4 torpedos, is because the damage control team was off guard.

Don't even get me started with "fragile metal tubes." A sub could sink a BB in a a torp
or 2. It takes plenty more in this game.

submarines are fragile metal tubes with engines. Of course they will suffer from depth
charges. The idea of the depth charge was that the shockwave from the depth charge was
enough to damage the sub or force it to crush depth level

Rec tomorrow because I used mine. Nothing pisses me off more in a sub (except
possibly HH) than DCs being able to kill me from a few inches. I think the damage it
does is just fine but the spread is just too much.

I've never noticed any depth charges that I launch damaging a submarine that much
at that range. Alright I've sunken them with a single salvo but just at about a
centimeters range. Although to be honest I never launch any charges at that kinda
distance, always drop them right by or ontop, any that I have dropped at larger
distanced have just damaged the submarines slightly. Maybe just a coincidence that
I've never done anymore damage at that kinda range or that every submarine I
engage packs alota bulge.

Although as long as the depth charges are still powerful things that can scare a
submarine I do no mind a reduction in thier range. Occasionally I get damaged with
my own depth charges so a reduction would also reduce this also.
