Gump I understand you were in the service and I'm sure you will understand the point I will make here in a moment.
I participated in my schools JROTC program (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) and from the time I joined until the time of my departure I achieved the rank of Cadet Major Executive Officer. On a daily basis I dealt with my fellow cadets, supervised and participated in creating the Master Training Schedule each year, and also was the main point of contact for any sort of major function or fund raising attempt.
I learned rank, structure, discipline, and every other Army value while in the program. If you are worried about my experience in dealing with situations in a mature fashion I have been in a generally similar environment that you have and it should be easy for you to relate to what I have explained. While this is just a very vague explanation of only one of the staff positions I held over the years I hope it can put your mind to rest in at least one of the concerns you have as to my credibility.
As for being trained in customer service. At the time of my application I had a little over 3 years of experience working in our on campus student store. Every day I would deal with people who, in general, would vaguely explain what they wanted then expect me to know what they were talking about. Not only did I deal with students but with many many parents and older adults as well. My time working in the store gave me a fair portion of knowledge on how to deal with a paying customer professionally.
More recently, in fact this month, I was hired as a Customer Service Associate at Mens Wearhouse (Moores clothing store in Canada or Twin Hill). At the time of my job application I had no paid job experience, never been an official employee of a company, and had never even been to a job interview for that matter. My resume was entirely school/JROTC related along with my current volunteer position here with NavyField. Heck, it wasn't even longer than one page. The Regional Manager stopped me three questions into my interview and hired me on the spot.
I completely understand your concerns for having children/kids running things but you also must understand there is that exception in society of the kids that are purpose driven and goal oriented. I take this job here as serious as I take my real job now and will continue to do my best for you, the paying customers, when I am able to adequately perform my duties after graduation. I felt it was absolutely necessary to inform the community of my absence as I work for them and not for my own personal gain.
