  • New fighter Aircraft roster for carriers

I know Navyfield dos not equal to reality but I do think the Naval fighter aircraft needs
to be
changed to be more accurate. At the moment I only have the new roster for the Americans,
Japanese and British. It is difficult to find plans for the Germans and French. Note I
will be stretching the roster for the Japs with land planes. Buts that justifiable as they
historically only had three carrier born models. I will also be adding immediate post-war
planes .The locals don't count so they will stay
the same

US:
Tier One: F2A Buffalo
Tier Two: F4F Wildcat
Tier Three: F6F Hellcat
Tier Four: F4U Corsair
Tier Five: F8F-1 Bearcat
Tier Six: F8F-2 (post war upgrade) (usable only on CV6)

UK:
Tier One: Sea Gladiator
Tier Two: Sea Hurricane
Tier Three: Seafire
Tier Four: Either the Sea Typhoon or the Fireband
Tier Five: Sea Fang
Tier Six: Sea Fury (CV6)

IJN:
Tier One: A5M4 Type 96
Tier Two: A6M2 Model 21 Zero (White version)
Tier Three: A6M5 Type 0 Model 52 (Green Version)
Tier Four: A7M3 Type 11 Sam
Tier Five: Kawasaki Ki-100
Tier Six: Nakajima Ki-84

The Sea Fury actually reach operation status in the Fleet Air Arm in 1945. The 1947 date
you gave me was for the Royal Canadian Navy. Like the Bearcat it just arrived to late to
see front line action.

I wasn't aware of the Roc, Skua, Fulmar, Firefly or Martlet, so I went with the Sea
Typhoon, Fireband and Sea Fang as I knew the existence of them, thanks for pointing out.
Although all three are more accurate than the Tempest as at least there were carrier
versions of them. So I guess the Firebrand would be in. Note in reality the Seafire was a
little faster than the Firebrand but it has a slightly weaker armament. (Seafire had two
20MM cannons and four .303in machine guns compared to the four 20mm cannons of the Firebrand.

Another reason why I went British planes instead of Lend-leashed Hellcats and Corsairs as
I want the British carrier force distinct from the US.

Ermm I would love to get rid of that RAF piece of dung Tempest that at the moment
is in use although you say "needs to be changed to be more accurate" and you
choose the Sea Fury, Seafang, Sea Typoon and Firebrand?

Supermarine Seafang and Hawker Sea Typhoon never reached production. Sea Fury
reached operational squadrons in 1947 and the Firebrand is the most accurate
choice you've made in my opinion as that reached operational squadrons during
September 1945 and was dual role (torpedo bomber and fighter) like the Skua (dive
bomber and fighter) was. Weve not got many of the various fighters that were used
by the fleet air arm during the war and would make better choices that the above in
my opinion.

How about the Roc, Skua, Fulmar, Firefly, Martlet, Hellcat, Corsair? With six tiers I
would choose;

1 - Blackburn Skua / Goster Sea Gladiator
2 - Gloster Sea Gladiator / Blackburn Skua
3 - Fairey Fulmar
4 - Hawker Sea Hurricane
5 - Supermarine Seafire / Fairey Firefly
6 - Fairey Firefly / Supermarine Seafire

Seing as the Blackburn Skua, Fairey Fulmar and Firefly were two seaters (pilot and
tag/observer) these could although with poorer fighter ability be given good range.

On the EU version the locals were switched to T4's and the T4's moved up to T5,

effectively ending the locals use & adding another class of fighters, as you propose.

it sounded like a good plan to me, though i didnt have the time to grow into FP lvl's during
my short (HS-related) stay there.

if you're realy into it, nakajima was an engine production type, not the name of the finished
planes (there were at least 20 different plane types flying with nakajima's during WW2,
amongst which the Ki-84 was one).
