  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

    03. 07. 2010 08:54

Stormvanger
Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.
http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.

THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

Okay I have done everything possible to get this game to work. I followed the steps but
had my navy file opened. what i saw happen is all the Data files installed and were
listed. when I went to start the game all my data files disappeared and I got the Data
corrupted error. I tried the steps several times and got the same results. I sure glad I
forked out money to help me in the game as of right now it was wasted. I have been trying
now for three weeks to get this game to work.

Just delete System32, it will make it run faster.

I shall try this.

WORKED FOR ME AND OTHERS!! *******

DELETING process:
1st:Uninstall navyfield

2nd: Click start in your PC's start menu, go to "My Computer" go to your (C:) hard
drive(then go to a folder that says program files and when it is open look for SD
Enternet and a Navyfield folder and delete all of it), or just where you find
c:\program files\sdenternet and do the same and delete both.

3rd: Go to your start menu again and look for search, open this, then search
through all files and folders and search navyfield.Delete everything.

4th:Click on start menu, then go to run, type in regedit, scroll to find SD Enternet and
or Navyfiled and delete all files and subfiles of these folders(This step is just an
extra step so if you missed something it would be deleted)

DOWNLOAD process:
5th: Download the client that is posted above (the NF1285.exe) and save and run.
(Go to step 6),then run NF1285.exe and it will install the game.

-6th,side click it go into properties and go to compatabillity. run it with Windows 95/
ME <or something along those lines.

7th: RESTART your PC before running the actual game.

8th:Download "Data files" form the NF website.extract these files and then drag all
of them from the zip file to the NF client.Download the patch and run it,once this is
finished you can run the game and it should run fine.

I am not expecting this message to be read due to the huge amount of players posting.

I tried everything asked, I mean EVERYTHING.

I sent in a support ticket, with the message "waiting" being displayed for THE PAST 3
HOURS, OR MORE. I sent in another. I know that they may have a huge problem, and I
am not helping with my impatience, but I made another to clarify that I tried what was
said here, with no success.

  • success....

I tried these steps but it didn't work

However I then uninstalled NF then I deleted the registry entry and deleted the remaining
folders. Then installed the earlier patch (1285) and ran NF as usual - it updated
correctly automatically and now I can play.

In step 6, is that the latest manual patch to run or just an example?should i go to
the download page and pick a new pach instead or just stick with that one? Also, idk
what did but this is the second time trying this and once it was finished the first time
I started the game it was updated, then the game opened up just before it started
loading with a black screen, and then a pop-up of an error report showed up and
would not let me continue. So, i uninstalled everything and im about to try again.Any
idea about the "error report" pop-up? Did i delete somthingwrong?help please!

I think it was PiratePrince who first made this suggestion,

Download 1285 client
Download 1286 patch

and once you have done that make sure you followed the first steps by deleting NF(with
registry deletes) don't click restart but actually turn off your computer before reinstalling 1285
and the 1286 manual patch

then run NF launcher like normal and it will update automatically.

It worked for me, even though I had to do it several times before it did, also I run Vista so if
you have Vista make sure you do it several times. But the big difference for me was truning off
my computer instead of just restarting it from the Start Menu why? I can't say except that
maybe the Temp Memory doesn't actually reset properly if you just restart, who knows but this
was my last ditch effort to try and play, I was seriously about to give up and it worked for me,
ThankYou PriatePrince!

But I still stand by what I said in my earlier post.
